Tennis Betting Odds - US Open Overview

Flushing Meadows, New York – Finally the 2007 US Open is upon us! Tennis betting fans have two weeks of sensational tennis to look forward to as they count down to the final day of the tournament – the all-important question of who will raise the cup weighing in the balance all the while.

How will the story of the 2007 US Open go? Will it be the story of the great Roger Federer, ever-chasing history and successfully defending his crown for the fourth consecutive time – or, will the men’s side see a new champion this year?

The last three US Open Finals:

2006 Federer d. Andy Roddick 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1,

2005 Federer d. Andre Agassi 6-3, 2-6, 7-6, 6-1,

2004 Federer d. Lleyton Hewitt 6-0, 7-6, 6-0.

Should Federer win a fourth consecutive title, he will be the first man in the history of the Championships in the Open Era to accomplish this feat.

The US Open title leaders:

Jimmy Connors - 5 titles - 1974, ’76, ’78, ’82-83

Pete Sampras - 5 titles - 1990, ’93, ’95-96, ‘02

John McEnroe - 4 titles - 1979-81, ‘84

Ivan Lendl - 3 titles - 1985-87

Roger Federer - 3 titles - 2004-06

The top three favorites: Rafael Nadal leads the ATP circuit with six titles (59/10 record) followed by Federer with five titles (45/6 record) and Novak Djokovic with four titles (52/13 record).

Will the 2007 US Open final see the Federer/Nadal rivalry? At the previous two Grand Slams, the Federer/Nadal rivalry took centre stage -- the French Open (Federer lost to Nadal in four sets) and Wimbledon (Nadal lost to Federer in five sets). Federer and Nadal have accounted for the last 10 Grand Slam titles – meeting in the final round of four.

At the 2006 US Open, Nadal had his best performance to date, reaching the quarterfinal round. (Djokovic made back-to-back appearances in the third round from 2005-06.)

More US Open results:

2 Rafael Nadal (ESP) QF (2006)
