Tennis Betting - Family Circle Cup R16

Charleston, South Carolina – In the top half of the draw, top seed Jelena Jankovic (short-odds-on favorite at BetUS) started her title defence campaign with a winning performance, defeating qualifier Alexandra Stevenson of the USA in straight sets 7-5, 6-0. Bidding to dethrone the reigning champion, Jankovic, are some of the Tour’s best players, including Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams. But as both Sharapova and Williams fall in the bottom half of the draw, Jankovic faces first threats in her quarter of the draw; from potential stumbling blocks in fourth seed Elena Dementieva, sixth seed Marion Bartoli and seventh seed Patty Schnyder. Here is a look at the Tennis Odds.

Tennis Betting Line: Radwanska vs. Schnyder

Match Time: 11:00 AM Eastern Time, Thursday April 17, 2008

Analysis: Rising Polish tennis star Agnieszka Radwanska arrived in Charleston with an impressive 19-7 mark for the year, which included one WTA title. She improved to 21-7 with victories over Marta Domachowska and Edina Gallovits. This is the first-ever career meeting between the 19-year-old Radwanska and Patty Schnyder (29-years-old).Very little separates the pair in rankings – Radawanska comes in at No.14, meanwhile, Schnyder arrives at No. 12. However, based on their seasons, Radwanska has contested more tournaments and posted some impressive results, namely a quarterfinal run at the Australian Open and Indian Wells and a semifinal run in Doha. I like Radwanska’s chances to advance into the quarterfinal of the Family Circle Cup.

Tennis Free Picks: Radwanska in three sets

Tennis Betting Line: Dementieva vs. Azarenka

Match Time: 11:00 AM Eastern Time, Thursday April 17, 2008

Analysis: Elena Dementieva of Russia holds a 1-0 lifetime record over Viktoria Azarenka of Belarus. Dementieva’s game has seen a nice revival this season, and she arrived in Charleston with a 13-4 mark for the season and one WTA title (Dubai). Her successful first three months of the year have seen her climb to No. 8 in the WTA rankings. On the other hand, No. 28 Azarenka is the games young rising stars. At 18-years-old she arrived with an 8-6 mark in Charleston and improved to 10-6 with victories over qualifiers Chanelle Scheepers and Tainting Sun. In Dementieva she will meet one of the circuit’s best performers. Azarenka is a long shot to orchestrate the upset.

Tennis Free Picks: Dementieva in straight sets
