Tennis Betting Odds - Davidoff Swiss Indoors Championships Picks

Basel, Switzerland – Of the three tournaments running concurrently this week on the ATP tour, the Davidoff Swiss Indoors Championships has attracted some of the most notable players on the ATP tour, namely top seed and defending champion Roger Federer, second seed Fernando Gonzalez, fourth seed James Blake and fifth seed Tomas Berdych.

With the second round kicking off on Thursday, October 25, 2007, here is a look at some of the tennis odds that are now available at BetUS Sportsbook.

Tennis Free Picks

Tennis Line: Stanislas Wawrinka -110 Tomas Berdych -130

Tennis Prediction: Swiss No.35 Stanislas Wawrinka is slightly disadvantaged on this money line, but he brings a huge advantage into this match – the mental boost from upsetting last week’s AMS Madrid champion David Nalbandian, who defeated Roger Federer in the final, in his opening match in Basel.

Moreover, further recommending Wawrinka on this line is a 1-1 tie in head-to-heads against Berdych and home court advantage. There will be no shortage of crowd support for this young talent.

No. 13 Tomas Berdych, who at one point this season broke into the Top 10, before slipping back to his current ranking, arrives as the slight favorite in this match. At -130, he is a good play. His game at its best is fluid operation, highlighted by a strong serve and punishing forehand shot.

Berdych has yet to become a consistent producer, hence his susceptibility to an upset. Berdych is by no means a sure play; his streakiness on court makes betting on him rather chancy, despite being favored. However, in non-major tournaments, in lower-profile events where there is less pressure, Berdych tends to fare better.

Tennis Free Pick: Berdych to persevere in three sets.

Tennis Line: Nicolas Kiefer -250 Stefan Koubek +185

Tennis Prediction – It could be argued that in this all-veteran affair, German No.64 Nicolas Kiefer and No.55 Stefan Koubek are, in some respects, evenly matched up. Both Kiefer and Koubek are 30-years-old and both arrive into this tournament on the heels of underwhelming seasons. However, in Kiefer’s defense he only returned to tournament play in July, after missing a considerable chunk of this season and last season with an injury. Kiefer was a surprise AMS Madrid semifinalist (lost to Roger Federer) and in his previous two events he reached the quarterfinal (Mumbai) and the semifinal (Beijing) respectively. Kiefer is a good play.

Tennis Free Pick: Kiefer in straight sets.
