Igor Andreev (1st Set) +180 Under 9½ +105

Analysis: No. 10 Tomas Berdych improved to 11-5 for the season after defeating Dmitry Tursunov in the R16. Berdych strung together a perfect game against the Russian Tursunov to win convincingly 6-2, 6-2. In fact, Berdych has been near perfect in Miami, advancing through the rounds with straight set and dropping only a handful of games.

In his second round opener, Berdych dismissed Sam Querrey with an imperious 6-1, 6-2 victory and followed up with an equally impressive performance against Juan Carlos Ferrero, beating the Spaniard 6-1, 6-3.

Prior to Miami, Berdych had reached only one quarterfinal – in Sydney. In this, his second quarterfinal appearance of the year, Berdych arrives as the favorite at -325 on the money line. And if he strings together the clinical performances that saw him reach this stage, Andreev will stand no chance.

Andreev arrived into the final eight through a tougher draw. In his opening match, he defeated Michael Berrer easily (6-2, 6-1) but faced a stiffer challenge in the form of qualifier Kevin Anderson. Andreev was stretched by the South African Anderson to three sets 6-4, 6-7(4), 6-4. In the R16, Andreev bested last year’s finalist Guillermo Canas 6-4, 7-6(6).

Andreev appears in his second quarterfinal of the year. The last time Andreev advanced out of the quarterfinal stage was in July 2007, in Gstaad (clay).

Typically, both players have proven to be risky bets, as individually they have struggled to post consistent results in tournament play. However, if the rounds of Miami were an indication, then the balance tips in favour of Berdych. He has simply breezed through the rounds and should he bring such a level to the quarterfinals, he would be the better play.
