Tennis Betting Odds - 2008 Barcelona R16 Odds

Barcelona, Spain – As the online betting Open 2008 Sabadell Atlantico enters the third round, the online sports betting market on tennis is complete with value tennis bets and standout bets that tennis handicappers should consider betting on. So without further ado, let us look at some of the tennis odds on offer at BetUS Sportsbook.

Tennis Betting Line: Nicolas Almagro -210 208 Mario Ancic +160

Match Time: 05:00 AM Eastern Time, Thursday May 1, 2008

Tennis Prediction: No.51 Mario Ancic owns the only victory between the pair, but it came in 2006 (the year that saw Ancic crack the Top 10) at Wimbledon (grass). The victory itself was a narrow one for the Croatian, winning by a handful of points 7-6(2), 7-5, 7-6(4). So, if the Spaniard, Nicolas Almagro (who weighs in at No,27 in the ATP rankings) can keep close to Ancic on grass, what will the result be on his favorite surface, clay? In 2008, Almagro picked up two ATP titles on clay (Costa do Sauipe and Acapulco). He enters the third round with a 24-7 mark for the year. He holds home court advantage. Checking all the right boxes, Almagro at -210 is the better play for the win.

Tennis Free Picks: Almagro in straight sets

Tennis Betting Line: Albert Montanes -170 Mikhail Kukushkin +130

Match Time: 05:00 AM Eastern Time, Thursday May 1, 2008

Tennis Prediction: Barcelona native, No.87 Albert Montanes has the edge with home court and surface advantage. But in the six appearances in Barcelona (from 2001-06), Montanes reached the second round in his debut appearance (2001) and the semi-final round once (2004). In his remaining appearances, he fell in the first round. In ATP level draws, Montanes has enjoyed little success, bringing a 6-9 mark into the third round of Barcelona. He did win a Challenger event prior to Barcelona though, in Monza (clay).

Meanwhile, very little is known about his opponent No.146 Mikhail Kukushkin of Russia, aside from the fact that he is contesting his first ATP level draw event of 2008, in which he remarkably reaches the R16. The 20-yera-old Russian reaches this stage with victories over No.24 Jarkko Nieminen in the opening round and No. 106 Pablo Cuevas in the second. On the Challenger circuit, Kukushkin won the title in Barletta (clay); and in Futures, he lifted the Russia F1 title. Clearly, Kukushkin enjoys success on both hard and clay courts. So how does the handicapper bet on this matchup?

Tennis Free Picks: Kukushkin in three sets
