Tennis Betting: Round Robin Picks - Henin vs. Chakvetadze

Madrid, Spain – Justine Henin prepares to defend her title against Ana Chakvetadze in the round robin portion of the Sony Ericsson Championships. BetUS Sportsbook tips Henin as the huge favorite at -1200.

Tennis Prediction: Belgian Justine Henin has been the most prominent player on the WTA tour this season. After sitting out on the Australian Open, at the start of the season due to personal problems, and, as a result, dropping briefly in ranking to World No.2, Henin burst back into tournament action, playing some truly magical tennis and firmly reasserting herself as the World No.1. Henin claimed a tour-leading nine titles this season, including her fourth Roland Garros title and second US Open title.
Henin arrives in Madrid, riding a 20-match winning streak, which includes championship runs at the US Open, Stuttgart and Zurich. Hennin takes an enviable 58/4 record for the season into her match against Ana Chakvetadze of Russia.
Henin is appearing in her fifth Sony Ericsson Championships, but prior to winning the event last year, she never advanced beyond the semifinal round. As the defending champion this year, Henin will be anxious to put on a great performance, and if her season were an indication, then chances are she will deliver on such an expectation.
Henin favored at -1200 is the better play. Against Anna Chakvetadze, Henin owns a 2-0 record, winning their last meeting in the semifinal of Miami (2007) with an easy 6-2, 6-3 victory.
Chakvetadze, appearing in her first-ever Sony Ericsson Championships, on the merit of her 2007 season, is seeded seventh. Chakvetadze owns a 57/18 record for the season, which includes four WTA titles. However, in spite of her caliber Chakvetadze enters this match up as the underdog. With long odds tipped at +600, Chakvetadze is a chancy bet for the upset. Not to take anything away from Chakvetadze, but Henin is that much a better player.
