Tennis Betting - Saint Petersburg Open Odds
By Nila Amerova
St. Petersburg, Russia – With three tournaments in full swing on the ATP tour this week, there are many choice match ups for tennis bettors to bet on at BetUS Sportsbook.
In the St. Petersburg Open, defending champion Mario Ancic arrives unseeded, while Russia’s No.1 player Nikolay Davydenko heads up the playing field as the top seed. Davydenko is chasing his first-ever title at this event and arrives in St. Petersburg after winning the Kremlin Cup in Moscow for third consecutive time two weeks ago.
So with so much action to bet on, here are some of my choice tennis picks to get you going.
Tennis Betting Line: Mario Ancic -200 Mikhail Youzhny +150
Match Time: 09:00 A.M. EST
Tennis Prediction:Croatian Mario Ancic prepares to meet Russia’s second highest ranked ATP player, No. 19 Mikhail Youzhny in the second round. Arriving in St. Petersburg as the defending champion, Ancic, who ranks well below Youzhny at No.37, is favored at -200. A former Top 10 player, Ancic is well priced on this line. But is there value in betting on the young Croatian talent?
Ancic’s season, after missing a large portion of the year due to illness and injury, is enjoying resurgence, with Ancic steadily climbing back up the ranks. Ancic brings only a 12/9 record for the season into this match and holds a 2/3 record against Top 20 players.
Russian Mikhail Youzhny, who broke into the Top 20 this year, brings a 45/21 record for the season, which includes one ATP title, into this match. At +150 underdog odds, there is value on betting on Youzhny who will be no short of supporters tomorrow.
However, since the summer session, Youzhny’s performance has slipped and he has struggled to factor significantly in tournaments. In the last three tournaments, his results have been underwhelming – in the 2007 US Open, he crashed out in the second round, in Moscow, he crashed out in the second round, in Madrid, he crashed out in his opening match – all of which makes betting on Youzhny chancy.
Tennis Free Pick: Ancic in three sets.
Tennis Betting Line: Nikolay Davydenko -600 Marin Cilic +350
Match Time: 11:00 A.M. EST
Tennis Prediction: Favored at -600, the top seed Nikolay Davydenko is a good bet. With home court advantage and 50/27 record for the season which includes one ATP title, Davydenko has a considerable edge over No.102 Marin Cilic.
Marin ranks just beyond the Top 100, but holds a 1-0 record over Davydenko – a victory he notched in Beijing only just recently. Having earned the victory so recently, Cilic should be confident coming into this match, lending his +350 odds some value. However, in spite of the Cilic’s triumph, betting on Davydenko to avenge his loss would still be the better bet.
Tennis Free Pick: Davydenko in straight sets.
