Tennis Betting – More Open 13 Quarterfinal Tennis Picks

Marseille France – Second round action came to a close today at the Open 13, bringing about some unexpected results and shock upsets, namely the double elimination of top two seeds—Novak Djokovic and Richard Gasquet. Djokovic was felled by defending champion Gilles Simon 6-2, 6-7(6), 6-3, meanwhile, Gasquet crashed out of the tournament with a three set loss to Robin Soderling 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. So, with the quarterfinal matchups set, here is a look at the tennis odds available with BetUS.

Tennis Betting Line: Mikhail Youzhny vs. Marcos Baghdatis

Match Time: 06:00 Eastern Time, Friday,  February 15, 2008

Tennis Prediction: This should be an interesting match, as it is a rematch of their 2007 quarterfinal meeting in Marseille. In 2007, Baghdatis came away with the victory 2-6 7-6(7) 7-5.

Baghdatis spends a lot of time in France, and as the countries adopted son he will enjoy almost home-court like advantage over Youzhny. However, Baghdatis has had a slow start to the season, arriving with a 2/2 record in Marseille, he improves to 4/2 by reaching the quarterfinal.  Whereas Youzhny, who has enjoyed an impressive start to the 2008 season, enters this match with a 12/1 record for the season and as a newly installed Top 10 player, he holds the edge.

Tennis Free Picks: Youzhny in straight sets

Tennis Betting Line: Mario Ancic vs. Robin Soderling

Match Time: 06:00 Eastern Time, Friday, February 15, 2008

Tennis Prediction: Second seed Richard Gasquet followed in the wake of top seed Novak Djokovic out of the main draw, discharged in three sets by Robin Soderling of Sweden. Soderling improves to 7-19 lifetime over Top 10 players.

Soderling is competing in his first tournament of the season, but so far, has managed to persevere through to the quarterfinals, albeit in both his opening match and second round match, he was stretched to three-sets. The question is whether Soderling has the form to maintain his momentum if he is taken into another three-set marathon.
Mario Ancic, a former Top 10 player, reached his first ATP quarterfinal since the AMS in Madrid last October, with a victory over Teimuraz Gabashvili in the second round. Ancic, who is also making his first tournament appearance of the season, has demonstrated no signs of rustiness in Marseille, namely by taking out Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the first round; Ancic has set a significant tone to his comeback trail.
Both Ancic and Soderling are making their 2008 tournament debut in Marseille, meeting for the first time in their careers, the edge falls in Ancic’s corner.

Tennis Free Picks: Ancic in three sets.
