New York Giants +11.5 vs. New England Patriots –11.5
Let’s focus on the Patriots third stringer Jabbar Gaffney right now. Just go to the BetUS sportsbook and scroll down past the Super Bowl lines and then past the alternative Super Bowl odds. Below, in the WR Props section, you’ll find these New England Patriots receivers prop wagers to bet on. We’ll go by the numbers on the left of the bets, called Rotation Numbers, to make it easier to follow.
Super Bowl Betting: 6:20 p.m. EST in Glendale, Arizona
Number 510/511: While people are betting the under line on this total yards prop, because Gaffney’s average reception yards in games is only 27 yards and the over/under is set higher, at 30.5, I think they are wrong. It is often wise to go against the public, as they usually look at only the surface, which is how the books make their money. What people are not thinking about is how Wes Welker out up huge numbers on the Giants in Week 17. So big that there is no way the G-men are going to let him roam free again. That means Brady will have to check down. Who will be the recipients of his check downs? Two players: tight end Ben Watson and Gaffney. Expect both players to do better than their average in the Super Bowl and grow your bankroll in the process.
Number 532/533: This Super Bowl XLII prop is on Gaffney’s first catch of the game and asks whether or not it will be for more than 7.5 yards. This is one instance where going with the public would be a smart idea, and they have taken the over here, raising the price to –130. Still, The Gaffer averages over 12 yards per catch, making this play not only safe, but also smart.
Number 558/559: This is the easiest of the Jabbar Gaffney prop wagers for the Super Bowl. The over/under for Gaffney’s longest catch of the day is set at 14.5 yards. Even if he is used more, Gaffney is rarely used deep at all. His passes are usually safe and short, putting good use to his great hands, as is evidenced by Gaffney ranking seventh in the AFC for percentage of passes caught (72%) of passes thrown his way. In 18 games, he has only caught five passes of more than 15 yards. Play the under on this on and sit back to enjoy the game.
