Super Bowl XLII Betting Props – Brandon Jacobs Props
By Russell Edward
With the advent of online gambling and the subsequent realization that all aspects of the Super Bowl are now available for the creation of Super Bowl props, leading online betting companies, such as the BetUS sportsbook, have taken charge. They are giving you, the discriminate bettor, more than anyone could have ever dreamt about in previous years to bet on Super Bowl XLII.
New York Giants +11.5 vs. New England Patriots –11.5
While it used to be just the mega star quarterbacks who had props like “Who will throw for more yards in the Super Bowl,” you now have almost countless options on every key position on the field from which to wager. Let us take a look at some running back props for the New York Giants. Just go to the BetUS sportsbook and scroll down past the Super Bowl lines and then past the alternative Super Bowl odds. Below, in the RB Props section, you’ll find these running back prop wagers to bet on. We’ll go by the numbers on the left of the bets, called Rotation Numbers, to make it easier to follow.
Super Bowl Betting: 6:20 p.m. EST in Glendale, Arizona
Number 258/259: This third quarter Super Bowl xlii prop is on the total yards that will be gained in this period by Giants running back Brandon Jacobs. In looking back through games in which Jacobs has started this season, one can, with a little stats work, find that Jacobs has been very productive in the third, averaging almost 32 yards per third quarter. The over under in the BetUS sportsbook is set, however, at just 16 yards! Sometimes you come across gems like this when bookies fail to take separate events into account when setting prop lines. What has happened here is that they have set the over / under on Jacobs’ total rushing yards for the game at 62.5. Half of that is only 31 yards. But bookies tend to be very simple in their division for quarters in a game, maybe adding a little tiny to help account for one, big run, but in general, they assume each piece will equally make up the whole. Take this mistake on their part and add a wad to your bankroll to start off the second half!
Number 260/261: Here, we have the fourth quarter compliment prop to the last one we just discussed. In the fourth quarter, however, the oddsmakers have gotten lucky and not really left the capable online NFL betting fan much leeway to play with. Jacobs is averaging 15.4 yards in the fourth quarter, which is too close to the 16 yards they have set the over / under at for me to feel comfortable telling you which way to bet. If you like flipping coins for cash, this will still be a very fun wager for you, but I am moving on to the entire second half Superbowl rushing props for Brandon Jacobs.
Number 262/263: Of course, as discussed earlier, bookmakers sometimes make mistakes, and here is another one caused by the fact that sportsbooks hire men that are extremely set in their ways to set football odds. As the quarter lines are set at 16 yards each, it only stands to reason that the over / under for a whole half would be double that, and it is. So, will Brandon Jacobs rush for more than 32 yards in the second half? Even with the emergence of his backup Bradshaw, considering his second half average of over 47 yards, this Super Bowl 42 betting prop is another of the relatively rare gimmes that you can’t afford to not bet on.
