Sunday Night NFL Betting – Favre Records Another Win
by Russell Edward
It would seem, perhaps, that the oddsmakers missed the first four games of this 2007 NFL betting season with the way this Sunday night’s line looks. What have the Bears done this year, besides fall apart at every seam? They just allowed the Detroit Lions to score more points on them than any team has ever scored in any fourth quarter in the history of the NFL. Yes, that was the Detroit Lions.
Chicago Bears +4 at Green Bay Packers –4
So, the defense is seemingly done. Who will carry this team now? The offense? Right. They dropped Rex Grossman in favor of Brian Griese, who proceeded to have just a bad a showing as Grossman had had the previous three weeks. To be fair to Griese, it was his first start in a long, long time and perhaps he just needs to break off some rust.
Maybe, maybe. But the Green Bay defense is playing great ball so far this season, and going into Lambeau Field, where the home team is 4-0 for the fist time since 1998, is not going to be a good place to get things together.
Although the Packers’ running game is somewhat suspect still, the passing game is enjoying a resurgence now, as Favre is actually playing smarter than he has since Mike Holmgren left and the reins came off. No more is he making the dumb passes into triple coverage that have marred this team for the past few years. Instead of trying to be something he is not, Brett is being just what he is: a great quarterback who, when he uses his head, is almost unmatchable.
Usually when you bet on football, there are some things that point in the favor of each team. With this game, in this season, at this time, everything points to a Packer win by at least a touchdown, if not two.
Favre loves the spotlight - team player though he has once again become - and this Sunday night, the football world is going to watch and finally believe that the guard has changed in the NFC North.
