PGA Online Golf Betting Six Pack - The Players Championship
By Dave Golokhov
Coming off a nice 45-1 payout, Anthony Kim got the job done for online golf betting fans at the Wachovia Championship last week, let’s see if we can narrow down the TPC winner in this week’s six-pack:
Stewart Cink 22-1
Flying under the radar this year has been Stewart Cink, who will probably have another top-10 finish this week. I’m confident saying that because he already has six top-10 finishes this year in 10 starts. He finished eight last week but has placed second twice and third twice this year. This week could be the week stops being the brides’ maid.
Anthony Kim 35-1
Strange to say that this is somewhat of a “public” pick since it is a golf field and not an NFL game, but I’ll go back to the wishing well with Anthony Kim. As mentioned, he got his first PGA win last week and it was in impressive fashion. Kim is only 22-years-old, so he has even come close to his ceiling yet but he might be finding his stride. He has three top-3 finishes so far this year.
Luke Donald 45-1
Talk about hit or miss, Luke Donald has been the definition this year. He’s either missed the cut or finished in the top 20 in every tournament this year. In eight starts he has three cuts five finishes in the top-25 and two in the top-10. He placed 16th at the TPC last year and 2nd in 2005. When he’s on, he’s on. And if you are going by trends, since he was cut last week, he should be on this week.
Stephen Ames 60-1
Stephen Ames has been quiet after starting the year with back-to-back top-10 finishes but he’s worth a look this week. His history at this tournament indicates that 60-1 is fantastic value regardless of his performances in the last couple of weeks. He won the TPC in 2005 and placed third in 2002. His final round 69 at the Wachovia Championship last week is also encouraging.
Justin Leonard 65-1
You might be thinking that this is another reach but Leonard has yet to miss a cut this year in 12 starts. He’s finished top-20 in the last three tournaments and this year has also included a second, fourth and fifth place finish. He won the TPC in 1998 so he knows what he has to do this week to get the job done. He hasn’t made the cut there since winning, but the good news is that he’s playing pretty good golf right now and if he makes the cut, he could make a run.
Brandt Snedeker 75-1
You might remember him from his run at The Masters, but Brandt Snedeker has had a pretty decent year overall. He has four top-10 finishes. He’s offering a pretty good price as an outright winner here, although that might be a stretch since he’s only won one tournament in his career. He did place 12th in this tournament last year.
