PGA Betting Preview – AT&T Classic Odds

by Eric Williams

Sergio Garcia finally got the monkey off his back, and proved to his sports betting faithful that he can actually win. Garcia was brilliant in his pursuit of the lead at The Players Championship. However, no player other than Tiger Woods has repeated as a tournament champion in the 2008 PGA Golf season. Don’t expect Garcia to be the first.

That being said, Zach Johnson continued a rare trend last year by winning The Masters and the AT&T Classic in 2007. Can Trevor Immelman do the same? If there’s any online betting trend worth leaning on this weekend, it’s that one.

The player to watch as a two-time offender this weekend will be online golf betting enemy Phil Mickelson, who set a course record at TPC Sugarloaf in 2006, a year he won the AT&T Classic and the prestigious Masters as well. However, Phil hasn’t played well this season winning a fairly unknown tournament. Phil isn’t protecting his backer’s bets this season, so stay smart and safe.

Dear Justin Rose,

I hate you.

Sincerely,

Tim Furious

Moving, on the serious “no name” that I like this weekend is Ben Crane who has consistently enjoyed success at TPC Sugarloaf. Crane is swinging well, playing with a solid pace this season, and has a win and a sixth at Sugarloaf. He also placed sixth last weekend at Sawgrass. Keep your eye on this sports betting favorite.

Ryuji Imada is a local favorite after attending the University of Georgia. While this former Bulldog was one hole away from winning last year’s AT&T Classic, he failed to make the cut last weekend. His performance has taken a significant dip since he came out blazing in January. Bet at your own risk.

Stewart Cink looks like he’s about to peak. Cink is a favorite for two very good reasons. The first is that he’s the tour pro at TPC Sugarloaf, so his familiarity with the course is a great reason to bet on him. The second is that he hasn’t won an online betting tournament this season. It’s a betting trend in the PGA that has rewarded many of my readers thus far. Get on board.

Of course, we can’t talk about this tournament without closing with Zach Johnson, the reigning champion at Sugarloaf. Johnson loves playing Georgia, and has two wins at Sugarloaf on his belt. His comfort level in Georgia is spectacular, and he’s playing at a very high level this season.

Cink and Johnson are the favorites, but check out our sportsbook to see if your favorite PGA golfer has some profitable odds. As always, stay tuned to the Locker room for all your Furious Previews.
