Tennis Betting Line: Evgeny Korolev -240 Philipp Petzschner +180

Match Time: 04:00 AM Eastern Time, Tuesday April 29, 2008

Tennis Prediction: Evgeny Korolev cracked into the Top 100 last week, following a run in Valencia that saw him reach the semifinal round (l. to Nicolas Almagro). The 20-year-old Russian enjoys clay and during the course of the European clay-court season, he has an opportunity to climb in the rankings some more. In his opening match, he faces German Phillipp Petzschner. With a 9-7 mark for the year and a confidence boost following his Valencia turnout, Korolev at -240 odds is a good play. Home court edge is about all that Petzschner brings to this match. With very little to recommend him, I would pass on his +180 underdog odds; Petzschner is a long shot bet.

Tennis Free Picks: Korolev in straight sets

Tennis Betting Line: Philipp Kohlschreiber -1600 Matthias Bachinger +700

Match Time: 04:00 AM Eastern Time, Tuesday April 29, 2008

Tennis Prediction: In this all-German affair, the money line speaks for itself. No.26 Phillip Kohlschreiber is a steep favorite for good reason. He brings a 15-8 mark for the year including one ATP title in 2008. In Monte Carlo last week, Kohlschreiber enjoyed a good run, reached the R16 where he lost to Nikolay Davydenko in a tight three-set marathon 6-3 5-7 2-6. Kohlschreiber is the sure bet.

Tennis Free Picks: Kohlschreiber in straight sets

Tennis Betting Line: Gael Monfils +160 Igor Andreev -210

Match Time: 04:00 AM Eastern Time, Tuesday April 29, 2008

Tennis Prediction: While Frenchman Gael Mofils woes in 2008 continue, Igor Andreev of Russia has seen his year turnaround slightly, especially now that the clay-court portion of the year is underway. Andreev enjoys this surface; some of his best results have come on clay. Last week in Monte Carlo, Andreev reached the quarterfinal, topping a top 20 player – Mikhail Youzhny – en route to the final four. In his opening match, Andreev is favoured at -210 and considering his recent results, he is the better play. At the same time though, Monfils could be only a match win away from finding his form. In Monte Carlo, Monfils enjoyed his best run to date a R16 appearance (l. to Federer). Clay is a surface he also favors. So could Monfils be the dark horse? At -160, he offers value should he come away with the victory. He may very well solve the dilemma of Andreev in the first round, but in the end, the balance tips in favour of Andreev. He is the more confident player having reached the quarterfinal last week and notched some impressive victories.

Tennis Free Picks: Andreev in three sets
