Horse Betting Trends - Padding Your Bankroll

National horse racing handicapper Michael Dempsey will attempt to pad his bankroll and yours with his daily column. He will feature at least one Pick 3 or Pick 4 play from a major track along with coverage of major stakes races, longshots, and will keep you up to date on what is happening on the circuits he covers. Friday’s featured race of the day includes my top pick Precious Too, who is 12/1 on the morning line. If we can get the three year old filly home first it would get our late Pick 3 ticket off to a good start.

The second leg only has five horse betting interests and likely will check home chalky. We do have a good chance of getting a price home in the final leg, three of my four selections in the ninth race are 9/2 or higher.

Analysis: #6 Precious Too set the early fractions and faded to finish fourth last out, beaten nine lengths for the top spot, beaten nine lengths for the top spot. The winner of the race was Go Michelle, who came back to $25K non winners of three in her next outing on 12/9. The third place finisher in the race was Hunsley Bunsley, who came back to beat $15K non winners of two in her next outing on Wednesday. Owns the edge in early and mid pace numbers and this is just her second go for a tag.

#4 Too Much Zip dueled for the early lead and finished gamely for second, beaten just a head for the top spot. Filly owns a solid pace profile throughout and Ramon picks up the call. Jock has picked up ten wins for the barn at the meeting here.

#2 Lord Snowdon / #2b Morine's Victory, #3 Leonardo / #3x Touchdown Kid

#2b Morine's Victory made a good late rally and drew clear late smartly to beat Alw-3 optional claimers last out in his second trip on the inner in his career. Won despite catching a inner surface that was favoring inside speed. Jammed right back for the same condition by Tony D. barn that could have a big day here today. Ramon listed on both parts of the entry so only one will go.

Entry mate #2 Lord Snowdon was not a threat last out in a fourth place finish against Alw-4 optional claimers and drops a condition. He earned numbers two and four back that are good enough to win here.

AQU Race 9 OClm $25,000N2X (4:12 et)

#3 Two Turn Halo, #1 Against the Grain, #8 Duchess of Rokeby, #2 Papa's Kara / #2b American Dream'a

#3 Two Turn Halo stretches out to a mile here after dueling for the early lead and weakening to finish third last out going six furlongs. Filly owns solid early and mid pace numbers and should not mind the stretch out to a mile where she is 2 for 3 in her career. She passed the Alw-1 level on the inner and Chuckie sticks for Levine barn that is 21% winners moving runners from sprint to route.

#1 Against the Grain dueled for the early lead while in between foes and weakened to finish fifth last out. Race has been productive, the winner Them There Eyes came back to win the $78K Scoot in her next outing on 11/9. The runner up Morning Gallop also won next out, beating open Alw-1 optional claimers on 11/21. She has handled the inner pretty well (4-1-1-2).

Live Longshots:

These are price plays to watch today. A small win-place wager is in order or if your pockets are deep enough, use these runners in your trifecta and Pick 3 and Pick 4 wagers. One or two of these could be the difference between a regular day at the track and hitting the IRS window with a signer.
