NHL Tonight - Hockey Sports Betting Picks
By Dave Golokhov
New York Rangers @ New Jersey Devils
The New York Rangers have lost only twice in regulation over their last 14 games and have quietly made a climb in the standings in the East.
On Wednesday, they play a team that sits atop the conference.
The New Jersey Devils have won 42 games this season but none of those wins have come against the Rangers. This will be their sixth meeting of the season.
The good news for the Devils is that they played a Western Conference opponent in their last game. They are 9-0 after playing a non-conference opponent.
The Devils are a rested bunch and are 7-3 when having three or more days of rest. The Rangers played last night and only 6-8 in back-to-back situations this year.
Free Pick: New Jersey
Washington Capitals @ Chicago Blackhawks
The Chicago Blackhawks and Washington Capitals have been two of the younger, more exciting teams to watch in the NHL betting this season. While one team is making a mad dash for the playoffs, the other is fading away.
The Capitals have climbed within two points of the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with an 8-3-0 run in their last 11 games.
Meanwhile, the Blackhawks have dropped five of their last six games.
Chicago has struggled against Eastern Conference opponents, tallying only three wins in nine tries against them. The Capitals have 6-3 record in non-conference games.
Washington is 5-2 in their last seven trips to Chicago and five of those meetings fell under the number.
Free Pick: Washington
Anaheim Ducks @ Dallas Stars
The Anaheim Ducks have been one of the best teams down the stretch of the regular season as they get set to make a run for a second consecutive Stanley Cup.
The Ducks are 22-11 in the second half of the season and have won seven of their last 10 games. Dallas was among the league’s hottest squads when they won 12 of their 14 games in February. March has been a different story, though.
The Stars have lost five of their last six games.
Both teams are well rested, which seems to benefit who are 6-3 after having three or more days off. That should give them ample time to figure out how they are going to play their next eight games without star defenseman, Chris Pronger, who is suspended.
The Stars have won nine of the last 11 meetings in Dallas and are 25-8-2 in their last 35 home games against the Ducks.
Free Pick: Dallas
Minnesota Wild @ San Jose Sharks
Two points separate Minnesota, Calgary, Colorado and Vancouver – the four teams vying for the Northwest Division lead and the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference playoffs.
The Wild will try to build on their two point lead over their three rivals as they head into the Shark Tank to face the dangerous San Jose Sharks.
The Sharks have won 12 of their last 13 games including a 3-2 win over Minnesota during that streak. Even so, the Wild still boast a winning record in San Jose over the last three season with a slight 3-2-0 edge.
All four of the last meetings in San Jose, as well as eight of the last 11, have gone under the number. 15 of the last 22 games overall in this series (irrelevant of venue) have gone under the total as well.
Free Pick: San Jose
