NHL Furious Playoff Picks 2008 – Washington to Cap Series Tonight
By Tim Furious
Philadelphia Flyers (42-29-11) vs. Washington Capitals (43-31-8)
Tuesday, April 22nd --- Verizon Center, Washington --- 7:00pm EST
Series: TIED 3-3
NHL Betting Line: Washington -155
Online ice hockey betting fans were licking their chops when Philadelphia tried to shut down Alexander Ovechkin for two periods last night. It allowed Alexander Semin and Nicklas Backstrom to pump two lamp lighters past Philadelphia to put them even. Then the Flyers panicked and sent everyone after the other two youngsters and left Ovechkin wide open.
Whoops.
Ovechkin notched the go-ahead and put-away goals last night to push the Flyers to game seven. And that momentum train is getting faster and faster. The Caps are 8-1 SU in their last 9 games and Philadelphia is 3-8 SU in their last 11 games on the road. Things don’t look that good for Philadelphia’s betting faithful at all.
The Flyers can hardly blame the offense, especially after they averaged 4.0 goals per game in this series. But the defense has been getting smashed and outskated by all the young guns of the Capitals. Speed kills, and the Flyers are learning the hard way.
The guy that the Flyers should blame is Sergei Fedorov who was showing the ol’ dangle last night on a few brilliant plays with the puck. His mentoring of the young Russian corps has been far undersold. Philadelphia has been a struggling team as of late, and with Washington carrying all the momentum and blowing apart any game plan Philadelphia can throw at them, bet on the Caps to close the series tonight.
NHL Free Pick: Washington -155 (OVER)
