NHL Furious Hockey Picks 2008 – Wednesday Night Parlay
By Tim Furious
Philadelphia Flyers (40-28-11) vs. Pittsburgh Penguins (46-26-8)
Wednesday, April 2nd --- Mellon Arena, Pittsburgh --- 7:30pm EST
NHL Betting Line: Pittsburgh -160
Philadelphia has returned to its high flying ways averaging 3.6 goals per game. With that has come a 4-1 SU record in their past 5 games, with their only loss being a one-goal defeat on the road to the Devils. With an embarrassing 7-1 defeat at the hands of the Penguins lingering from mid-March, the Flyers are poised for revenge. But the Penguins have clinched a playoff spot and are fighting for a chance to face – you u guessed it – the Flyers.
The Penguins have been getting roasted defensively because of the amount of quality shots that reach their goalies. Marc Andre- Fleury has stood on his head, steadying the Pens to 2.7 goals against. They put their opponents on their heels so often that they have to abandon their game plan and try and keep up with the sixth best offense in the league (3.0 goals per game).
But all you really need to know is that they are 1-7 SU in their last 8 games when playing Pittsburgh. It’s easy to assume that the scrappy Flyers will ride that momentum to victory. But that momentum train is about to hit the skids as Pittsburgh puts the clamps on the Flyers in hopes of retaining that top-spot in the East.

Detroit Red Wings (52-20-7) VS. Chicago Blackhawks (38-33-8)
Wednesday, April 2nd --- United Center, Chicago --- 8:30pm EST
NHL Betting Line: Detroit -135
Chicago has been strong at home, going 8-4 SU in their past 12 games, and they’ve enjoyed a lot of success against the Wings. They are 4-2 SU in their last 6 games with Detroit. My problem with Chicago is that they’ve been beating up on Central Division nobodies. They’ve defeated, and lost, to Columbus, and also beaten St. Louis and Nashville. Excuse me if I’m not so excited.
Detroit has gone 4-1 SU in their last 5 games, notwithstanding a 4-3 loss to the Blues. Detroit is simply a dirty good team and Chicago has no chance in this one. Detroit has won the last two games and Detroit is flying fast at full power and you’d be silly on any given night to wager against Detroit. I love the wings with a small, rewarding line like this.
NHL Free Picks: Detroit -135 (UNDER)
