The NHL Finals are underway as the Ottawa Senators battle the Anaheim Ducks for right to hoist the Stanley Cup. The two teams are searching for their initial (modern-day) NHL championship.
The matchup of a small-market U.S. team and a club from Canada makes this a very interesting matchup to say the least and bettors are cashing in.
Lord Stanley introduced his Cup in Ottawa, and no West Coast team has won it since the Victoria Cougars of the Western Canada Hockey League claimed it in 1925. The original Senators won four Cup titles but since the franchise was reborn in 1992 there's been no championship.
The Senators were sharp throughout their first three rounds before Monday night's Game 1 loss. The Western Conference champions scored first but the Ducks fought back to win. Ottawa had been 8-0 when scoring first in the playoffs, before losing the series opener. Before the Finals began, Ottawa lost only one game in each of its three playoff series.
Anaheim entered the NHL in 1993, but they too have never raised the Cup. In 2003, the Ducks fell one win short of claiming the title. This is the third time in 14 seasons a California club has a shot at the Stanley Cup.
Games 1 and 2 marked the first time Ottawa had visited California since October 2003. Play returns to Ottawa on Saturday for Game 3 of this best-of-seven title round. The puck drops at 8pm EST. Don't miss this great NHL Finals matchup; it's a great way to cash in.
