Hockey Betting - Sabres Seek Holiday Success

by BetUS Staff

The Buffalo Sabres finished with the most points in the Eastern Conference last season, but so far this year they have one of the worst records in the entire league. However, if you did some NHL betting on the Sabres on Wednesday you were rewarded with an upset victory over the Ottawa Senators, which Buffalo fans hope is the start of a streak.

Ales Kotalik, Drew Stafford, Derek Roy, and Michael Ryan all scored for Buffalo in their 4-2 win over Ottawa. Ryan Miller stopped 27 of 29 shots between the pipes for the Sabres, while Tim Connolly returned from his strained oblique to log 13:47 of ice time.

That result improved the Sabres to 8-10-1 on the season, and it was only their third victory in nine games in the month of November. However, Buffalo can push that record up to the .500 mark with a strong performance on this holiday weekend in their back-to-back games against the Montreal Canadiens (home on Friday night, away on Saturday).

The Sabres handily beat Montreal back on November 16, getting two goals from Clarke MacArthur and one each from Daniel Paille and Drew Stafford in a 4-1 decision. Michael Ryder had the lone Montreal goal in that contest, but overall the Canadiens have had a better run in November – they’ve picked up six wins in their 10 games during the month.

A busy Friday around the NHL sees nine other games on the schedule: the Islanders at BostonWashington at PhiladelphiaColumbus at MinnesotaPhoenix at AnaheimTampa Bay at CarolinaNew Jersey at Atlanta, the Rangers at FloridaVancouver at St. Louis, and Toronto at Dallas. Note those first four contests are all set for the afternoon.

The Bruins and Islanders will also play a home-and-away set this weekend, with the second game on Long Island on Saturday night. Daniel Alfredsson and his league-leading Senators will host Philadelphia that day, while rookie sensation Patrick Kane will take his Blackhawks into Edmonton. Other Saturday contests include Carolina at WashingtonDetroit at ColumbusToronto at PhoenixCalgary at ColoradoAtlanta at PittsburghNew Jersey at Tampa BayMinnesota at Nashville, and Los Angeles at San Jose.

Kane and the Hawks are in action Sunday as well, as they go farther west to Vancouver to tangle with the Canucks. Three other games make up the NHL’s Sunday slate this week, with Dallas at the Rangers, Calgary at St. Louis, and Los Angeles at Anaheim.
