Football Betting - Dallas Cowboys (-13) vs. Detroit Lions (+13)
By D.S. Williamson
The Cowboys have been on a roll. I still have my doubts about their defense but they keep winning because of all of those points that Tony Romo, TO and Jason Witten put up every week.
The Boys have one of the best offenses in the NFL. The Lions, on the other hand, have sort of given up. Going into their games last Sunday versus the Minnesota Vikings, the Lions knew that they had to win.
Well, not only did they not win, they got smacked around like a bunch of little girls on the playground. It was flat-out ugly the way that Adrian Peterson ran through them and around them. The air is definitely out of the balloon that we call the Detroit Lions. This team will not make the playoffs.
The line opened at 10 points. All ready it is up to 13. No worries, the trends say Cowboys all the way:
The Dallas Cowboys are 8 and 1 against the spread in their last 9 versus fellow NFC opponents.
The Dallas Cowboys are 7-1-1 against the spread in their last 9 road games.
The Cowboys should have no trouble scoring at will against a soft Detroit Lions’ defense. More important than that is the fact that Lions’ quarterback John Kitna just lost his favorite target.
Star wide receiver Roy Williams will not be suiting up for Detroit the rest of this year after spraining an ankle in that slaughter-fest last Sunday versus the Vikings.
Without Williams, who had become sort of the five-and-out guy that Kitna threw the ball to when the pressure was on, the Lions have little chance of keeping this game close.
Expect Kitna to play most of this game on his back. Dallas does give up big plays but opposing quarterbacks have to throw the ball before the Cowboys’ defensive ends get to them.
That won’t happen in this game. John Kitna will start looking a sliver and baby-blue punching bag after the first quarter.
The BetUS football line is Dallas Cowboys – 13 against the spread on the road versus the Detroit Lions.
The Boys will beat the Lions by around 20 points.
Word of caution, jump on this game early. That line will just keep going up until kick-off. I predict - 16 by the time the Boys and Lions tee it up on Sunday.
