NFL Prop Betting - Carson Palmer Odds

One can imagine that if Carson Palmer was able to return from his knee surgery and post big numbers in 2006 (4035 yds., 28 TD's), he could easily approach those figures again this season. We don't really know that he will top 4000 again, as the Cincinnati Bengals know that to be a real contender (they missed the playoffs last year), they have to get more than 3.8 yards a carry out of Rudi Johnson. Okay, they've got to play defense too - something that was missing in the 2006 season (ranked 30th in NFL).
One thing that separates Palmer from Peyton Manning is that the former Heisman Trophy winner from USC has been a bit more mistake-prone. Palmer has thrown 43 interceptions in the last three seasons, compared to 29 for Manning. He also lost seven fumbles. Another separator is that Palmer may not quite be the play-caller Manning is. Cincinnati plays a lot of the no-huddle, and it is widely known how adept Manning is at making the last-second changes at the line of scrimmage. Palmer is not as consistent in that regard.
Like Manning, though, he is hardly a running threat, and we would not expect him to post auspicious numbers along those lines in 2007. The fact is, though, he will ring up numbers. Being another year removed from the knee surgery is something that has to be of benefit.
He has great bookend receivers in Chad Johnson and T.J. Houschmandzadeh (did we spell that one right?), but in terms of the all-around package, it doesn't quite measure up to what Manning has at his disposal. Chris Henry, who had over 600 yards receiving last year, is suspended for the first eight games, so even though Palmer may find himself throwing more if the running game doesn't come through, there may not be more overall yardage.
