NFL Betting - Vikings vs Lions Odds

Minnesota Vikings (1-0) vs. Detroit Lions (1-0)
Sunday September 16th --- Ford Field, Detroit --- 4:15pm EST
Opening Football Line: Detroit -3 (41)
This one should be a great one. Detroit can’t run, but man can they whistle the ball through the skies. Minnesota can’t throw, but Adrian Peterson looks unbelievable in the pros. While nobody should be labeling either team as playoff bound, the Lions and Vikings should put on a decent show that the oddsmakers are obviously having trouble figuring out.
What I love about this matchup is Jon Kitna against Antoine Winfield and the Vikings secondary, which is pick happy and opportunistic. Detroit torched them for 284 passing and it’s hard to imagine the Vikings having the same kind of success. Tatum Bell wasn’t outstanding when he rolled the rock, with 83 yards and a score, but it’s insanely tough to get room to run against the front four of Minnesota.
Tavaris Jackson managed a good game, but was lucky that Adrian Peterson scampered a bobbled reception for 60 yards and a score. Take that away, and Jackson had an unimpressive 103 yards and one pick. Detroit’s pass defense gave up 283 yards and their rushing defense gave up 92 yards to a horrible Oakland run game. Peterson and the Vikings offensive line will have their way with Detroit.
Games are won by touchdowns, and this Detroit passing game looks lethal. Detroit was lucky they found room to run against Oakland, but their fortunes won’t be nearly as grand against Minny. The passing game will lose a step as the rush attack falters.
Meanwhile, Detroit’s defense is a mess and the Vikings are disciplined and tote one of the most dangerous weapons in the league with Peterson. Expect a close one as Detroit returns to Earth and Minnesota squeezes out the upset. Kitna rides on emotion, and the Vikings will frustrate him early with a bull-rush from their defensive line.
