NFL Wagering Week 14 – Giants (8-4) at Eagles (5-7)

The New York Giants, (7-5 ATS, 6-6 O/U), are coming into this NFC East showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles, (6-6 ATS, 6-6 O/U), off a convincing, 21-16 win over the Chicago Bears on the road last week in which quarterback Eli Manning and the Giants showed tremendous poise down the stretch when they collectively made several crucial plays to beat the Bears.
The Eagles, on the other hand, have lacked the finishing power to stay with their opponents the last two games, losing by a combined total of seven points, including last week’s 28-24 defeat at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks.
When these teams met earlier this season on Sep. 30, the Giants defensive linemen, particularly defensive end, Osi Umenyiora, embarrassed the Eagles offensive line to no end, racking up a franchise record 12 sacks on dazed Birds quarterback Donovan McNabb, with Umenyiora recording a career-high six himself.

Analysis: While I genuinely believe the New York Giants are the better football team heading into this contest, I also know from firsthand experience how good Eagles’ defensive coordinator Jimmie Johnson is. The Eagles probably aren’t as bad as their record indicates and always play their NFC East rivals tough.
I won’t blame this loss on Giants quarterback Eli Manning, but the G-Men are going down against the Birds in a close one. Take the Birds to fly high for a week – but the Giants to cover the spread in a thriller.
