The Seattle Seahawks (2-1 SU, 1-2 ATS, 1-2 O/U) are 2-1 and enter this game coming off a 24-21 win over the Cincinnati Bengals at home last week. While the Seahawks are more than respectable on offense, ranking 12th in overall (12 pass, 17 run) averaging a shade over 21 points per game, Seattle’s defense is ranked near the bottom of the league, ranking 26th overall and 30th against the pass where they are allowing nearly 275 passing yards per game to their opponents. Starting running back Shaun Alexander will play this week wearing a protective cast on his broken hand.
The San Francisco 49ers (2-1 SU, 1-2 ATS, 1-2 O/U) were soundly beaten 37-16 by the Pittsburgh Steelers last week after winning their opening two games to start the season. The young 49ers are struggling mightily on offense at the moment despite having one of the league’s best running backs in Frank Gore. San Francisco is ranked 31st in overall offense, including 31st-ranking in passing. The Niners have been fairly solid defensively – until last week that is – owning the league’s 19th-ranked defense (11 pass, 25 run).

Analysis: While the Seahawks are the more experienced and deeper team, the 49ers aren’t far behind their NFC West counterparts at the moment and could win this game outright. Take the Niners to cover the spread as home underdogs here and surprise the Seahawks with a close victory.
