NFL Betting Odds – Bears vs Chargers

04:15 PM EST

NFL Odds:

Chicago Bears +6½ - 110

San Diego Chargers -6½ -110

Over 42½ -110

Under 42½ -110

NFL Week 1

The Chicago Bears reached the Super Bowl last season before bowing out to the Indianapolis Colts in a thrilling game.

The San Diego Chargers had a Super Bowl quality regular season, winning 14 games before falling to the New England Patriots in an AFC conference semifinal showdown at home that prompted Chargers management to make several perplexing changes.

Here is a look at tonight’s Key Trends, followed by my Free Football Betting Picks:

Key Bears Trends

The Bears are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games in September.

The Bears are 5-13 ATS in their last 18 games as a road underdog of 3.5-10.0.

The Bears are 1-4 ATS in their last five games as an underdog.

Key Chargers Trends

The Chargers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games as a home favorite of 3.5-10.0.

The Chargers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games in Week one.

The Chargers are 5-2-2 ATS in their last nine games in September.

Key Totals Trends

The Under is 7-1-1 in Bears last nine games as an underdog of 3.5-10.0.

The Under is 5-1-1 in Bears last seven games as a road underdog of 3.5-10.0.

The Over is 8-3 in Chargers last eleven games on Grass.

The Over is 9-4 in Chargers last 13 games overall.

Chicago Bears: The Bears posted an outstanding 13-3 SU record last season and a solid 9-7 ATS record as well, not to mention the third best O/U record in all of football (11-4-1). Bears head coach Lovie Smith is hoping that quarterback Rex Grossman can overcome his inexplicable penchant for the three-interception game while easing high draft pick Cedric Benson into the starting lineup in place of the departed Thomas Jones.

San Diego Chargers: The Chargers also posted solid numbers across the board (14-2 SU, 9-7 ATS, 10-6 O/U) even though they failed to capitalize on the home-field advantage they had against the Patriots in last season’s playoffs and made things worse in the offseason by firing head coach Marty Schottenheimer – and both coordinators to boot.

NFL Betting Analysis: Maybe it’s me, but I am amazed that the Bears are getting 6.5 points from any team this season with the outstanding defense they play. Take the Bears to cover this spread if not win outright.
