NFL Betting Odds - Week 4 Preview and Matchups
by DS Williamson
It’s Week 4 in the NFL and the trends have been firmly set! That means good times for NFL bettors!
BetUS offers NFL betting lines on every single game. Here are the four marquee match-ups for Week Four in the NFL, the BetUS NFL betting lines, and an analysis of each game.
Seattle Seahawks (–2.5) vs. San Francisco 49ers (+2.5)
The 49ers ran into the buzz-saw that is the Pittsburgh Steelers. At this time, the Steelers are probably the second best team in the AFC after the New England Patriots. So, there’s no shame in losing to Pittsburgh. The BetUS line on this game is Seattle – 2.5 against the spread. Seattle has an injury problem in that running back Shaun Alexander has a broken wrist. However, he is expected to play.
Injuries to the 49ers? Well, they all ready lost Manny Lawson, their up and coming linebacker for the year, and now Vernon Davis, their young tight-end is questionable. Seattle is a better team than people think, holding the high-scoring Cincinnati Bengals to only 21 points in Week 3. The Seahawks look mighty tough in this one.
Denver Broncos (+9.5) vs. Indianapolis Colts (–9.5)
Denver just isn’t as good of a team as last year. They almost loss to both the Oakland Raiders and the Buffalo Bills. What does that mean? Well, it means nothing until you look at the fact that they have one of the worst rush defenses in the NFL. They give up way too many yards on the ground.
Now, they have to face a Colts team that should be hungry to get back home after two tough road wins against the Tennessee Titans and the Houston Texans. The BetUS line against the Colts, 9.5 points against the spread, is a pretty tough number to cover in the NFL, but those Colts look awfully good!
Philadelphia Eagles (–3) vs. New York Giants (+3)
Two teams that bounced back in a big week in Week 3 and a rival game to boot! For Philadelphia, Donovan McNabb put to bed any questions involving his ability to play this year by throwing over 400 yards and 4 touchdowns versus the Detroit Lions in Week 3. Eli Manning and wide receiver Plaxico Burress put on a show for New York Giants’ fans in Week 3 as they won a difficult game versus the Washington Redskins.
This is a big game in the NFC East Division. It will come down to which quarterback plays the best and, believe it or not, Eli might be the one. The Giants will not go down easily in this one!
New England Patriots (–7.5) vs. Cincinnati Bengals (+7.5)
Conventional wisdom states that the New England Patriots will stumble along the road somewhere. Why not in this game on Monday night versus the Cincinnati Bengals? The BetUS line is Patriots –7.5 against the spread. The Patriots have been phenomenal all year and one of the NFL betting trends that has actually held from last year is that the Bengals lose when they get into a shoot-out. Hmm, it appears that the Bengals might have an issue since the only way to beat the Patriots is to get them into a shoot-out. The Patriots will score and they will score a lot and that defense might be the best in the NFL as well!
