NFL Betting - NFL Regular Season Wins - NFC
By Dave Golokhov
When it comes to NFL betting and regular season win totals, like Peter Hammill’s album Over or Steve Saluto’s Under, there's only two ways to go. In the sixth of our eight division previews, we examine the NFL odds for regular season wins in the NFC North:
Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears are head and shoulders above everyone in their division – and possibly – the NFC.
Rex Grossman, fresh off his first full season of starting, has worked overtime in the offseason to refine his mechanics, which let him down throughout key points of last season.
Grossman has a plethora of weapons; Mark Bradley, Bernard Berrian, Muhsin Muhammad, Rashied Davis and the explosive Devin Hester make up the receiving corps. Tight ends Desmond Clark and rookie Greg Olsen could be the best one-two punch in the league.
The Bears defense got Lance Briggs back into the lineup and replaced Tank Johnson with Darwin Walker. They will get back safety Mike Brown, a team leader that they had to play without last year. They are young and getter better.
Although most people discredit the NFC, the Bears could easily be the Super Bowl champ in 2007.

Detroit Lions
Everyone wants to tab the Detroit Lions as a sleeper but they are still rebuilding. The defense is under construction and needs a Herculean effort from their front four to even be respectable.
On offense, the Lions have pieces in place, for the most part. But there are still questions as to whether Jon Kitna can avoid key mistakes and whether the unit as a whole can turn their losing mentality into a winning one.
An 8-8 season would be a success, but their defense may not be good enough to help get them there.

Green Bay Packers
If you are looking for a real sleeper in the NFC North, the Packers are your team.
There is a lot of continuity on this roster and the team finished with four consecutive wins to end their 2006 schedule.
They were the youngest team in the NFL last year and figure to only get better.
Their young offensive line and receiving corps is a year older and while the Pack have to replace Ahman Green, running back is the easiest position to replace in the NFL (see: Samkon Gado).
The Packers defense is very good already and they added another first-round pick, Justin Harrell. The Packers are not great in any one area on their team but they are very good all the way around.
They have more chemistry, leadership, and experience than the Lions. They won eight games last year so getting to 10 wouldn’t be as much of a shock as many people might perceive.
NFL Odds For Regular Season Wins: 7.5

Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings are a rebuilding team and 2007 will be about determining who is part of the future and who is just clogging the roster.
All eyes will be on sophomore Tarvaris Jackson, who will get the call as the fulltime starter. Daunte Culpepper’s MVP-like season from just a few years ago seems like a distant memory.
The receivers Jackson is working with are very young, inexperienced and unproven, which also doesn’t bode well.
The Vikings didn’t make significant progress in Brad Childress’ first season and if that remains similar in 2007, he will start to feel considerable heat.
NFL Odds For Regular Season Wins: 6.5
NFL Free Pick: Under
