Bet on NFL Action - Titans (+ 6.5) vs. Colts (- 6.5)

The Indianapolis Colts are playing at an incredibly high-level towards the end of the NFL betting season, but don’t expect them to come out firing in this game. Tony Dungy is a huge believer in resting his starters before the playoffs begin.

So am I. Therefore, I can’t very well get on Dungy’s case. What I can do is say that this line should change dramatically from now until the kick-off. If it doesn’t, then the Tennessee Titans become an even better choice in here.

First, some trends:

The Tennessee Titans are 7 and 1 against the spread in their last 8 versus a team from the AFC South.

The Tennessee Titans are 10 and 4 against the spread in their last 14 road games.

The Indianapolis Colts are 2 and 7 against the spread in their last 9 games versus a team from the AFC South.

The Titans play the Colts tough anyhow. So, why wouldn’t they play them extra tough in a very meaningful game on Monday night? If the Titans win, then they are in. That’s good enough for me.

Again, Dungy will rest his starters. He cannot afford to get a single starter hurt in what amounts to a meaningless game for the Colts. The Colts potential first round match-up in the playoffs are either the Steelers, these Titans, the Chargers, or the Jaguars. Any one of those teams has a good chance of taking it to the Colts and Dungy is smart enough to know that.

The Colts aren’t playing for history like their arch-rivals, the New England Patriots. So, why not give Peyton a seat on the bench after one or two series?

That’s what I would do. Even if that doesn’t happen, I still like the Titans in this game for the simple fact that Vince Young will pull something out of the air in order to get the Titans close. He’s too good to let his team lose by more than three points in a super important game.

Again, if the Titans win they are in. Expect them to play like a team possessed.
