Football Betting - AFC Divisional Championship Games

Following a NFL betting wild-card weekend, the stage is set for this weekend's divisional championship games. Let's first turn our attention to the AFC contenders who'll be vying for a spot in the conference title contest.

Saturday, the Jacksonville Jaguars travels to Gillette Stadium in efforts of knocking off the perfect New England Patriots, who posted an unblemished 16-0 SU (straight up) regular season record with an ATS (against the spread) mark of 10-6. At home, the Patriots covered the spread in five of its eight contests.

New England owns the best offense in the league by scoring a robust 36.8 points per game while racking up 411.3 yards. Their 589 points posted during 2007 set an all-time NFL record. New England also set a league mark with 75 touchdowns.

Individual records were also set. Tom Brady threw an amazing 50 touchdown passes to break the old record of 49 set by Peyton Manning, and Randy Moss' 23 touchdown receptions broke Jerry Rice's record of 22.

New England's high-octane offense sometimes over shadows their rock-solid defense which is fourth-best in the NFL. Defensively, the Patriots are giving up just 17.1 points per game and 288.3 yards.

But despite their dominance on both sides of the ball, New England had dropped the cash in five of their last six games.

Jacksonville earned the right to play New England by winning 31-29 last week in Pittsburgh with a 25-yard field goal with 37 seconds remaining. The Jaguars became the first club to win twice in Pittsburgh in the same season in the Steelers' 75-season history.

The Jaguars have won seven of their last nine games SU and ATS. Offensively, Jacksonville is putting up points per game and yards, meanwhile, they're surrendering points and yards defensively.

New England and Jacksonville haven't met since last year in Week 16, when the Patriots claimed a 24-21 victory on the road. When these two teams have hooked up it's been the Patriots taking the cash, because the Jaguars are 1-5 ATS in their last six meetings.

A perfect 16-0 regular season won't mean much if the Patriots don't win their next three games and their fourth Super Bowl this decade. This stellar AFC division tile game starts at 8:00pm EST. Early NFL betting odds list New England the 13-point favorites with a game total of 47½.

The other AFC division title game gets underway on Sunday between the San Diego Chargers and hosting Indianapolis Colts at 1:00pm EST.

The Chargers and Colts clashed in San Diego on Nov. 11 with the bolts earning a 23-21 victory in their most recent meeting. The Chargers have fattened the wallets of its investors when they play the Colts, as they covered the spread in six of eight contests versus Peyton Manning and company. As well, they are 4-1 ATS in their last five meetings played in Indianapolis.

The Colts posted a regular season SU mark of 13-3 and 9-7 ATS. Under home cooking, Indianapolis is 7-3 ATS in their last ten at the RCA Dome and 4-0 ATS in their last four playoff games.

San Diego earned a date with the Colts by downing Tennessee 17-6 at home. The Chargers are 6-0 ATS in their last six games following a SU win. They are also 42-20-2 ATS in their last 64 games overall.

NFL odds list Indianapolis the 9-point favorites with a game total of 46½, which may play in favor to San Diego supporters considering the underdog has covered the spread in the last four games between the two.

These AFC divisional championship games are must see games for the sports wagering enthusiasts. And, if you miss the kickoff to any of the NFL playoff games, don't sweat it. Live wagering will be offered throughout each game.
