NFL Betting - AFC East Divisional Winner

The 2007 AFC East Division race could literally turn out to be a one-team race that eventually leads directly to Super Bowl XLII.

While the New England Patriots are clearly the cream of the crop here, the division’s other teams all hope to make vast improvements from 2006, even if one of the teams (Miami) already seems clueless.

Here are the odds to win the AFC East in 2007, followed by my Free NFL pick.

To Win Outright the AFC East Division

New England Patriots -600

After adding enigmatic wide receiver Randy Moss, deep threat Donte Stallworth and extremely underrated possession receiver Wes Welker, most NFL experts are already predicting the Patriots to reach and win the 2007 Super Bowl title. Of course, selecting former Miami Hurricanes defensive standouts Brandon Merriweather and Kareen Brown in this year’s draft certainly didn’t hurt either.

By the way, did I mention New England also added Pro Bowl linebacker Adalius Thomas and veteran tight end Kyle Brady?

Looks can be deceiving, but if you ask me, it looks like the Patriots could win this division with their eyes closed.

New York Jets +450

The Jets wisely acquired a top-notch running back when they nabbed Thomas Jones in a trade with the Chicago Bears. New York also added a rookie cornerback in Darrelle Revis, who should help New York’s suspect secondary immensely. Though the Jets overachieved for first-year head coach Eric Mangini last season and could be even better in 2007, they will once again play second fiddle to the Patriots in the AFC East.

Buffalo Bills +1500

While the Bills added two players in this year’s draft who could turn out to be stars in Marshawn Lynch and Paul Posluszny, they are too young and too inexperienced to beat either the veteran New England Patriots or the New York Jets. Pencil the Bills in for third, unless they manage to let the Dolphins surpass them.

Miami Dolphins +1000

The Cam Cameron era has not gotten off to a good start in South Beach. The Dolphins have a Pro Bowl caliber quarterback on their roster they say they aren’t counting on and passed up their chance at nabbing their quarterback of the future in the recently concluded draft. Depending on what happens with Miami’s quarterback situation, they could either be mediocre or atrocious. One thing they will not be in 2007 is division winners.

NFL Free Picks: Forget the -600 money line and take the Patriots football bettors and rest easy knowing that this pick is an absolute “lock.”
