The Bears have muddied situations at quarterback and running back, not to mention the fact that they lost four wide receivers from a year ago.
After starting off the 2007 season with five consecutive wins under head coach Jeff Tedford, the Bears fell apart in the season’s second half, losing six of their final seven games before managing to beat Air Force in the Armed Forces Bowl.
Strengths
The Bears have a lot of unanswered questions heading into their 2008 regular season opener, but at least have a solid offensive line, led by A-American center Alex Mack.
Weaknesses
Let’s see … quarterback, running back and wide receiver positions could all be big problems for the Bears in 2008.
Senior signal caller Nate Longshore was unimpressive last season before giving way to backup, sophomore, Kevin Riley who led the team to victory in their bowl game appearance.
Whoever takes over at quarterback, will have to find some new targets as wide receivers Lavelle Hawkins, DeSean Jackson and Robert Jordan are all gone and
no current receiver caught over five passes during the 2007 season.
The Golden Bears also lost starting running back Justin Forsett who rushed for 1,546 yards and 15 touchdowns in his senior season.
