NCAA Basketball Lines - California Golden Bears vs. Washington Huskies

California Golden Bears (- 2.5) vs. Washington Huskies (+ 2.5)

The Pac-10 Conference Tournament starts tonight with the Cal Golden Bears taking on the Washington Huskies. Neither team has been all that great this year in the Pac-10. The Golden Bears have a BetUS record of 14 and 12 against the spread. Cal lost to Washington by three points the last time these two teams met. The Golden Bears are also 6 and 4 against the BetUS NCAA basketball spread in their last 10 games. This includes an almost victory against the UCLA Bruins in their last game.
Washington would have been a contender had they found a way to keep Spencer Hawes. Unfortunately for them the talented center decided to go to the NBA this year. That has made things tough for the Huskies. Against the BetUS spread Washington is 14 and 16 this season. In their last 10 games the Huskies have also gone 6 and 4 against the BetUS spread. The California Golden Bears are 9-2-1 in their last 12 games against the spread when playing at a neutral site as the favorite.
The Washington Huskies are 5 and 1 against the spread in their last 6 games.
The Washington Huskies are 4 and 1 against the spread in their last 5 games as an underdog.
The California Golden Bears are 5 and 0 against the spread in their last 5 games on a Wednesday night.
As the trends indicate, this is going to be a very difficult game for either team to win. When in doubt, I like to take the points. The added benefit of taking the Huskies in this game is the fact that the Golden Bears have to be smarting after that loss to UCLA on Sunday.
I believe that Cal saw that as a must win game. They played about as well as a team could play versus the terrific UCLA Bruins and came up just short as Josh Shipp hit that incredible shot from behind the backboard.
Emotionally, I don’t see Cal bringing the same sort of fire into this match-up against the Huskies as they did into their game versus the Bruins this past weekend. Without emotion Cal can definitely suffer a letdown tonight versus a Huskies’ team that can scare some folks in the Pac-10.
Points and emotion go a long way in these conference tournament games. Washington is the play tonight.
