NCAA Basketball Conference Championship Odds and Picks

With the majority of NCAA Basketball Conference Tournaments scheduled to get under way this week, this article will look at the respective Conference Odds in the BetUS.com Sportsbook, and provide the BetUS.com NCAA Basketball Betting Community with a bit of information on how each conference has fared when it comes to winning national titles.

Time’s-a-wastin,’ so let’s get busy.

Conference to win 2007-08 NCAA Hoops Championship

ACC Conference +200

Analysis: The ACC has fared extremely well when it comes to winning national titles, with North Carolina taking the title in 2005, Maryland in 2002 and Duke winning it all in 2001. The conference also features several title contenders this season, including No. 2 North Carolina.

Big East Conference +750

Analysis: The Big East conference has also won its share of national championships recently, with UConn taking home all the marbles in 2004, Syracuse winning behind Carmelo Anthony in 2003 and the Huskies winning it all in 1999. This year, the Big East features several legitimate contenders in UConn, Georgetown and Marquette.

Big 10 Conference +800

Analysis: The last Big Ten team to win it all was the Michigan State Spartans in 2000. Prior to that, it was Michigan winning it all in 1989. This year Michigan State and Wisconsin will have a shot.

Big 12 Conference +300

Analysis: The last Big 12 team to win a title was the Danny Manning-led Kansas Jayhawks team way back in 1988. The Jayhawks are once again one of the top teams in the nation though they don’t have a legitimate ‘leader’ like Manning was so many years ago.

CUSA Conference +450

Analysis: No Conference USA team has ever hoisted an NCAA Basketball championship since its inception in 1995. That could all change this year however, with the Memphis Tigers being a likely Final Four participant.

Mountain West Conference +7000

Analysis: No Mountain West team has ever won an NCAA title since its founding in 1999 – and guess what bettors? It’s not going to happen this season either.

Pacific 10 Conference +250

Analysis: The Pac-10 has been on a national championship drought ever since Arizona hoisted the championship trophy back in 1997. This season, the Pac-10 has several talented teams shooting for the national title such as UCLA, Stanford, Washington and Washington State.

SEC Conference +700

Analysis: The SEC has won two consecutive tournaments thanks to the immense contributions of two powerful Florida teams that won back-to-back championships in 2006 and 2007. Kentucky was the last SEC team to win a national championship prior to that, winning titles 1998 and 1996.

Field +1200

Analysis: I always advise bettors to take a shot at ‘The Field’ when it has a realistic chance of covering. This year, ‘The Field’ may be in trouble.

Analysis: I’ve already picked North Carolina, Memphis, Tennessee and UCLA as my Final Four teams with North Carolina winning it all, led by my guy, Tyler Hansbrough. However, as you can see, each of my Final Four teams are from different conferences, so this pick is certainly not set in stone. Still, I’ve picked the North Carolina Tar Heels to win it all, so I say go with the ACC in this wager.
