College Basketball Betting Odds - WASHINGTON STATE at CALIFORNIA

by Charles Jay

BetUS NCAA college basketball betting odds: WASHINGTON ST. -3.5, Total 134

Washington State Cougars (21-6 SU, 14-12 ATS) will be looking for some revenge on Thursday night, as they travel to the Haas Pavilion in Berkley to face off against the California Golden Bears (15-10 SU, 12-10 ATS) in Pac-10 action that is scheduled to get underway at 11 PM ET.

In the BetUS NCAA college basketball betting odds, Washington State is listed as a 3.5-point favorite, with a total of 134 points.

Here are some of the NCAA college basketball betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

* WSU has won and covered four of its last five games

* WSU has covered eight of its last 11 road games

* WSU has won 10 of its last 12 road games SU

* WSU has played four of its last six road games OVER the total

* CAL has played its last ten games OVER the total

* CAL has lost eight of its last 13 games SU

* CAL has lost five of its last six home games SU

* CAL has won 11 of the last 15 meetings SU

* WSU has covered three of the last five meetings

* WSU has covered four of the last five meetings as the road team

* CAL has won 10 of the last 12 meetings SU as the home team

Despite hitting 15 of its 20 shots from beyond the arc in the previous meeting between these two, Washington State still fell to a 69-64 defeat at Pullman, because two-pointers apparently were too difficult to hit.

California allows 73.6 points per game at home, which ranks the Bears 315th in the country. Perhaps the Cougars, who are shooting 48% as a team, can take advantage of that this time around. But more importantly, they know that they have to do a little better job controlling the pace of the game. California would much rather go break-neck, as their string of ten straight games playing over the total would seem to indicate.

Washington State has kept its last seven opponents to 67 points or less, and the last five have averaged just 54 ppg. They know this is the formula that is going to work best for them as they advance toward the NCAA tournament. And it is out of character for Wazzou to throw up that many three-pointers again.

So while we're not looking necessarily toward the total in this one, we are looking for a more inspired performance out of Tony Bennett's Cougars here, as they try to avoid the season sweep. That means a better job on Cal star Ryan Anderson, who hit for 27 points against them on January 31, and a cover, laying the 3.5 points as is posted in the BetUS NCAA basketball betting odds.
