NCAA Basketball Betting - LOUISIANA TECH vs. SAN JOSE STATE

BetUS NCAA basketball betting odds: SAN JOSE ST. -6.5, Total 132

Two also-rans kick off play in the Western Athletic Conference tournament on Tuesday night when the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (6-23 SU, 13-12 ATS) face off against the Spartans of San Jose State (12-18 SU, 10-16 ATS) in first-round action that begins at 9:30 PM ET at the Pan American Center in Las Cruces, NM.

In the BetUS NCAAB betting odds, San Jose State is listed as a 6.5-point favorite, with a total of 132 points.

Here are some of the NCAAB betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

* LT has lost 14 of its last 17 games SU

* LT has played seven of its last eight games OVER the total

* SJS has lost its last five games SU & ATS

* SJS has played six of its last eight games OVER the total

* LT has covered five of the last seven meetings

* LT has won 11 of the last 15 meetings SU

* Five of the last six meetings have gone OVER the total

* LT has had the shooting edge in six of the last eight meetings

* SJS has had the rebounding edge in three of the last four meetings

* LT has made more three-pointers in six of the last seven meetings

San Jose State has not brought very much momentum into this post-season exercise, and that was punctuated with an 87-83 loss to this Louisiana Tech team on Saturday. And that was a loss despite the fact that the Spartans managed to own the backboards, out-rebounding the Bulldogs by a wide 48-21 margin.

Of course, rebounding deficiencies are nothing new for LaTech, which has averaged just 25 boards a game, landing them 320th in the country. Their unlikely finish saw them win their final two games, including a game against Hawaii in which they shot just 38% from the field.

But here's what's interesting - when these teams met up a few days ago, they were both on target. Louisiana Tech hit 52%, while San Jose State shot 51%. Louisiana Tech is last in the nation in field goal percentage defense, allowing opponents to shoot a shade over 50%. And take a look at where these teams have been trending; LaTech has played seven of eight overs, while San Jose has exceeded the total in four of its last five. In addition, five of the last six meetings have gone over.

That's the direction we're going to go in here. Don't look for defense to dominate. We'll move OVER the 132 points, as it is posted in the BetUS NCAAB betting odds.
