NCAA Basketball Betting - KANSAS at TEXAS A&M
By Charles Jay
The Kansas Jayhawks (27-3 SU, 14-12-2 ATS), who are looking to continue their momentum as the Big 12 tournament approaches, will travel to College Station on Saturday to tackle the up-and-down Texas A&M Aggies (22-8 SU, 13-12 ATS) in Big 12 action that tips off at 4 PM ET at the Reed Arena.
This is the one and only regular season meetings for these teams this year.
Here are some of the NCAA college basketball betting trends as they relate to this matchup:
* KAN has won four of its last five games SU
* KAN is 2-7-1 ATS in its last ten games
* KAN has played its last three games OVER the total
* KAN is 3-3 SU in its last six road games
* KAN has lost its last six road games ATS
* A&M has lost four of its last six games SU
* A&M has covered two of its last six games
* A&M has played six of its last nine games UNDER the total
* KAN has won five of the last six meetings SU
* A&M has covered three of the last four meetings
* KAN has had the shooting edge in four of the last six meetings
* KAN has had the rebounding edge in four of the last six meetings
On the surface, this may look like something of a mismatch; after all, Kansas is coming off a 109-51 pounding of Texas Tech and before than, beat Kansas State by double digits, while A&M shot less than 26% just a week ago against Oklahoma, getting humbled by a 64-37 score, and had been beaten by 27 in Texas just a couple of weeks ago.
But an encouraging sign for the Aggies was their 14-point win on Wednesday night over Baylor, dealing a blow to the Bears' NCAA tournament hopes. And Kansas is not the monster on the road that it is at the Allen Fieldhouse; losses at Kansas State, Texas and Oklahoma State, as well as close calls against the likes of Georgia Tech, USC and Missouri, would seem to bear that out. The Jayhawks, in fact, have covered just three of their last 10 as a road favorite.
Though many "bracketologists" have penciled Texas A&M into the NCAA field, there is no guarantee of that. A strong showing here would seem to be a must, as the Big 12 tourney might not be altogether "friendly" for them. Kansas has more prep days (four, in fact) and that might seem to be something of an edge, but we look for A&M to build on the Baylor win and start to make their move. That includes a big effort here, and we'll grab the Aggies plus the points in the BetUS NCAA college basketball betting odds.
JAY'S PREDICTION: TEXAS A&M BY 3
