NCAA Basketball Betting - FLORIDA STATE at NORTH CAROLINA

BetUS NCAA basketball betting odds: NORTH CAROLINA -16, Total 156.5

The Florida State Seminoles (17-12 SU, 9-17 ATS) try to keep their feint NCAA tournament hopes alive on Tuesday night as they visit Chapel Hill to play the North Carolina Tar Heels (27-2 SU, 19-7 ATS) in an Atlantic Coast Conference matchup that is slated to begin at 8 PM ET at the Dean Smith Center.

In the BetUS NCAA basketball betting odds, North Carolina is listed as a 16-point favorite, with a total of 156.5 points.

Here are some of the NCAA college basketball betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

* FSU has covered three of its last 14 games

* FSU has won four of its last six games SU

* FSU has won and covered two of its last six road games

* NC has covered seven of its last ten games

* NC has played five of its last seven games OVER the total

* NC has covered four of its last five home games

* NC has won 15 of its last 17 home games SU

* NC has covered five of the last six meetings

* NC has won the last seven meetings SU

* Five of the last seven meetings have gone UNDER the total

* NC has won the last five meetings SU as the home team

* NC has had the shooting edge in each of the last five meetings

* NC has had the rebounding edge in each of the last seven meetings

* FSU has made more three-pointers in five of the last seven meetings

Sure, North Carolina is the much stronger side, and with point guard Ty Lawson back in the lineup, they are going to be hard to stop once the NCAA tournament gets underway. But taking a look at the Tar Heels' schedule, there is one order of business left, and it's not this game with Florida State. It's the rematch with Duke, where UNC will be seeking revenge for an earlier defeat.

The team with a lot more desperation on its side here may be the Seminoles, who are widely considered to be on the bubble for the Big Dance Florida State is starting to turn up the defensive pressure. With consecutive wins over Clemson, Boston College and North Carolina State, in which they allowed just 60 points a game, FSU is making its statement right now. Leonard Hamilton is seeking his first NCAA berth since he came to Tallahassee. And one thing you can count on from Hamilton's teams is that they are going to be mentally tough.

The Heels had some hairy moments on Saturday, having to come back from 18 points down to beat Boston College. Tyrese Rice lit them up for 46 points in that one, and FSU comes in with a hot-shooting guard of its own in Toney Douglas, who's gone for 20 or more in five of his last six. It's tough to take issue with 50% shooting, as North Carolina has exceeded in each of its last five games. But we're looking for a team that's got some fire, borne out of desperation, for this matchup, and that points us toward Florida State, the 16-point underdog in the BetUS NCAA basketball betting odds.
