NCAAB Wagering - Cougars (+ 2) vs. Wildcats (- 2)

The best match-up tonight has the Washington State Cougars traveling to Arizona to take on the Wildcats. Washington State has a terrific straight-up record of 16 and 1. But their against the spread record is at an okay 5 and 5 in their last 10 games. Arizona, who has played a more difficult early season schedule than the Cougars, have gone both 3 and 0 straight-up and 3 and 0 against the spread in their last 3 games.

Here are some other trends:

The Washington State Cougars are 6 and 1 against the spread in their last 7 road games.

The ROAD team is 5 and 2 against the spread in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.

The Washington State Cougars are 9 and 1 against the spread in the last 10 meetings between these two teams.

The UNDERDOG is 9 and 1 against the spread in the last 10 meetings between these two teams.

The BetUS ncaa betting line of – 2 reflects the respect that BetUS odds-makers have for the Arizona Wildcats at home. Even though the trends don’t say it, I think that – 2 on the Cats at home versus a 1 loss team is a gift.

Washington State has built that terrific record off of wins against teams like the Citadel, Portland State, and Idaho. The Arizona Wildcats have six straight-up losses this season. Three of those six losses were against Virginia, Kansas and Memphis.

That’s a big difference in terms of strength of schedule. Memphis and Kansas the only two meaningful undefeated teams left. They are also ranked number 1 and number 2 in the AP Top 25.

Are the Cougars’ wins more impressive then the Wildcats’ losses? I don’t think so. I believe that Arizona has probably turned the corner as evidenced by their three game winning streak. Two of those wins came against Stanford and California which means that the Wildcats are better now then they were earlier in the season.

Jeryd Bayless, the Cats’ super-stud point-guard, has also played himself back into the starting line-up after suffering an early season injury.

I like this Wildcats team. They play terrific defense and have scorers in both the back-court and front-court. I believe they are going to hand the Cougars their second loss of the season.
