College Basketball Betting - Baylor at Oklahoma
By Charles Jay
BetUS NCAA college basketball betting odds: BAYOR -6, Total 145
Two teams who still don't have anything sewed up as far as the NCAA Tournament is concerned will get together on Tuesday night in Norman when the Oklahoma Sooners (17-8 SU, 11-11 ATS) play host to the Baylor Bears (17-7 SU, 8-9 ATS) in Big 12 action set to tip off at 8 PM ET at the Lloyd Noble Center.
In the BetUS NCAA basketball betting odds, Oklahoma is listed as a six-point favorite, with the total posted at 145 points.
Here are some of the NCAA basketball betting trends as they relate to this matchup:
* BAY has covered one of its last six games
* BAY has lost five of its last six games SU
* BAY has played its last ten games OVER the total
* BAY has won six of its last nine road games SU
* BAY has played its last five road games OVER the total
* OKLA has covered three of its last ten games
* OKLA has played four of its last six games UNDER the total
* OKLA has covered one of its last five home games
* OKLA has won 13 of its last 16 home games SU
* OKLA has won the last ten meetings SU
* OKLA has covered the last six meetings
* OKLA has had the shooting edge in each of the last seven meetings
* OKLA has had the rebounding edge in each of the last eight meetings
Our concern about the Sooners goes beyond the performance of center Longar Longar, who has registered just 16 points and seven rebounds since coming back to the lineup after a foot injury. Oklahoma has not been consistent at all from the free throw line, making just half its attempts in a narrow escape at Texas Tech and a little more than that in a 14-point loss at Big 12 lesser light Colorado. That won't do against a team that has genuine long-range capability (8.7 threes per game) like Baylor.
Forget the previous meeting between these two, which Baylor lost by six points at home. They were well spent after playing a five-overtime game with Texas A&M. But the Bears can run it up and down the floor, and unlike a lot of these fast-paced teams, they don't seem fazed by traveling - having covered at Kansas at winning straight-up at A&M and just missing out on a cover against Texas.
What we notice most vividly, however, is that Baylor is able to force the pace in most of its games, having gone over the total in each of their last ten outings. There is a recent "over" history in this series as well, and somebody has reached 77 points in five of the last six encounters.
Actually, that "somebody" is Oklahoma, which has dominated this series with seven straight covers. But we're looking toward the total on this one. Longar Longar or not, we like this one going "over" the 145 points, as is posted in the BetUS NCAA college basketball betting odds.
JAY'S PLAY: OVER 145
