NCAA Basketball Betting - Arkansas at Alabama
By Charles Jay
BetUS NCAA college basketball betting odds: ALABAMA -1, Total 145.5
The Arkansas Razorbacks (18-8 SU, 10-12 ATS) are in a great position to bolster their credentials for the NCAA tournament. On Wednesday night, they take their show on the road as they visit Tuscaloosa to play the Alabama Crimson Tide (14-13 SU, 7-14 ATS) in Southeastern Conference action that tips off at 8 PM ET at the Coleman Coliseum.
In the BetUS NCAA college basketball betting odds, Alabama is listed as a one-point favorite, with a total of 145.5 points.
Here are some of the NCAA college basketball betting trends as they relate to this matchup:
* ARK has won 16 of its last 23 games SU
* ARK has covered one of its last six road games
* ARK has lost four of its last five road games SU
* ARK has played seven of its last nine road games OVER the total
* BAMA has covered two of its last seven games
* BAMA has lost four of its last five games SU
* BAMA has played four of its last five games UNDER the total
* BAMA has covered two of its last six home games
* BAMA has won 10 of its last 14 home games SU
* BAMA has played four of its last six home games OVER the total
* BAMA has covered seven of the last nine meetings
* ARK has won four of the last five meetings SU
* BAMA has covered seven of the last 10 meetings as the home team
* BAMA has won five of the last six meetings SU as the home team
* ARK has had the shooting edge in each of the last five meetings
* BAMA has had the rebounding edge in five of the last eight meetings
Alabama has had to go this season without point guard Ronald Steele, who is out with a knee injury. It has showed, because though the Tide has gotten relatively solid play from the front line, plays are not being created. There are just a lot of fundamental faults on this team, including their inability to make free throws (60.7% - ugh!), which can not be attributed to Steele's absence.
Though Alabama can certainly go to some kind of post-season tournament, with the NIT and CBI available to them if they can finish at a record above the .500 mark, it is Arkansas that harbors the real NCAA tournament hopes. And even though neither team is particularly hot (both losing four of their last five), the Hogs play much better defense; 'Bama allows 73 ppg at home, ranked 307th in the country. And the road barrier is not that high, since 'Bama simply does not cover numbers in Tuscaloosa (only 5-9 ATS).
