NCAAF Betting Week 11 Preview
By Robby Maddux
The No. 18 Auburn Tigers meet the No. 10 Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday in a Week 11 showdown. This is one of the SEC's oldest rivalries and will make for stellar NCAA football betting action. Both clubs are in the running for titles in their respective divisions. There's an outside chance that neither wins its division but still goes to the BCS, so there will be a lot on the line in Athens this weekend.
The Tigers come into this game at 7-3 SU (straight up) and 5-4 ATS (against the spread). On the road, Auburn is 2-1 SU and has covered the number in all three. The Bulldogs are 7-2 SU and 4-4 ATS. They are 5-1 SU and have covered the spread in two of their four contests under home cooking.
This game will likely come down to how well Georgia's offense performs against Auburn's quick, aggressive defense. The Bulldogs are scoring a respectable 31.4 points per game and collecting 379.7 yards. Meanwhile, The Tigers are holding opponents to 14.5 (fifth-best in the nation) points and 293.8 yards per game.
Auburn's offense is average at best, and there's room for improvement on Georgia's defense. The Tigers are scoring just 25.5 points per game and putting up 379.7 yards. Georgia is allowing 22.4 points and 340.9 yards per game.
NCAA football odds list Georgia the early 1-point favorites. The Tigers are 4-1 ATS in their last five meetings in Georgia and the road team is 8-3 ATS in their last eleven contests between the two. Whether you bet online, or phone your plays in, take Auburn here and cash. This is only one of the many spectacular games on this weekend's schedule.
Also, catch the No. 17 Florida Gators and South Carolina Gamecocks in what will be another SEC war at Williams-Brice Stadium. This game will go a long way toward determining the SEC East championship. Or it could be a matchup of teams who are in a free-fall to end the season.
Two seasons ago, South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier pulled off a 30-22 upset against his old team as the 4½-point underdogs. Last season, the Gators got a blocked field goal on the final play of the game en route to the national title and a 17-16 non-cover win as the 13-point chalk.
Though Spurrier has been gone from Gainesville for six seasons now, he still casts a long shadow. In order to get completely out of that shadow, Florida coach Urban Meyer would love to win this game for his 6-3 SU and 5-3 ATS Gators.
Florida is the early 6½-point favorites. This game features online betting at its finest and the Gators, who have covered the spread in seven of their last ten games, are the winning selection in this one against the 6-4 SU and 4-5 ATS Gamecocks.
As well, the No. 24 California Golden Bears (6-3 SU, 3-6 ATS) host the No. 12 USC Trojans (7-2 SU, 4-5 ATS), who are a money-dropping 1-4 ATS in their last five conference games. However, the road team has built bankrolls in eight of eleven games between the two, making the Trojans the smart play in this one as the early 3½-point favorites.
The Kansas Jayhawks and Oregon Ducks are skyrocketing in the polls and at the ticket counter. Last week, the Jayhawks dismantled the Nebraska Cornhuskers 76-49 to remain perfect at 9-0 SU and 8-0 ATS as the only unblemished team ATS in the country while climbing to No 5.
With the win Kansas broke the school season-scoring record of 384 points set in 2003. They are second in the nation in scoring having put up a dazzling 46.2 points per game.
Oregon isn't far behind offensively, as they are fourth-best having scored 42.8 points per game while racking up a whopping 510.6 yards. Last week's 35-23 Ducks' win over the Arizona State Sun Devils moved Oregon to No. 3 and 8-1 SU and ATS.
Like most years, the outcome of games depends on parity, or lack thereof, which seems to be the case this season. The mismatches have made this campaign one full of upsets and creates dynamic betting action. The beat will go on this weekend, so suit up and get down on all the action.
