College Football Odds - Tigers tangle with Bulldogs
By BetUS Staff
The Auburn Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs both still have a chance at a BCS Bowl if they can capture the SEC Championship. At least one school will likely see their BCS hopes shattered on Saturday when the Tigers face the Bulldogs in Georgia, with NCAAF betting aficionados perhaps hoping for another big upset to fill their wallets.
The Tigers have already lost three games this season but only two came in conference play, giving them a chance (no matter how small) of catching LSU in the SEC West. Last week Auburn easily got past Tennessee Tech 35-3. Quarterback Brandon Cox only played in three series after leading the Tigers to three touchdowns. Cox threw a touchdown pass Robert Dunn, while Ben Tate and Carl Stewart each ran in for a score. The Auburn defense had little trouble with Tennessee Tech and recorded two interceptions and a pair of fumble recoveries while keeping them out of the end zone.
All the Bulldogs need to do to assure they’ll be playing in the championship game is keep on winning. Georgia sits atop the SEC East standings with a 4-2 conference record, but could give way to Tennessee or Florida with a loss. Georgia faced Troy last week and came away with a 44-34 win as a 14-point favorite on the NCAAF odds. Freshman Knowshon Moreno surpassed the 1000-yard rushing mark this season after rushing for 196 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries. Bulldogs’ quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 217 yards with two touchdowns and an interception in the win.
When Auburn and Georgia squared off last season the Bulldogs shocked the Tigers in a 37-15 win as an 11.5-point underdog. Georgia’s defense completely shut down Auburn in the win, as they outgained the Tigers 459 yards to 192 yards. Stafford threw a touchdown and ran in for six for Georgia, while Cox struggled for Auburn as he completed only 4-of-12 passes for 35 yards with four interceptions.
