NCAA Basketball Betting – Tennessee State (2-3) at Indiana (6-1)
By Eric Williams
The Indiana Hoosiers, (6-1, 3-3 ATS, 3-3 O/U), are off to a fine start and are opening a five-game home stand tonight against the Tennessee State Tigers, a team that hasn’t played in four weeks since finishing in last place in the Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska.
The 15th-ranked Hoosiers won their only real road game of the season on Saturday, beating a talented 22nd-ranked Southern Illinois team 64-51 with the team’s best player, freshman guard, Eric Gordon dropping 22 points on the overmatched Salukis.
Gordon is already getting high praise and is being hailed as the schools’ best guard since Isiah Thomas. Gordon is averaging team highs of 26.6 points and 1.7 steals per game while shooting a blistering 54.5 percent from the field and an amazing 52.4 percent from long distance.
After defeating host school, Division II Alaska-Fairbanks, 78-64 in the tournament opener, Tennessee State, (2-3 SU, 2-2 ATS, 3-0 O/U), lost consecutive games, 87-68 to Colorado State in the semifinals and 74-72 to Akron in the third-place game Nov. 18.
The Tigers are led in scoring by 6-3 senior guard Bruce Price who averages 16.6 points per game, but the Tigers have yet to beat a Division I team while the Hoosiers have yet to lose at home under head coach Kelvin Sampson, (19-0).
The Tigers are also allowing opponents to average a whopping 80.8 points per game on 50.3 percent shooting and have lost 11 straight contests to ranked opponents since the start of the 1996-97 season.

Analysis: While I generally don’t like the high, 20-plus point spreads, I can’t help but think Indiana is going to win this game by close to 30 points at the very least. Take the Hoosiers to cruise big time in this first-ever meeting between the schools.
