NBA Betting - Los Angeles vs. New Jersey
by Mike Rose
The NBA Network picked a good one to broadcast tonight when the (30-16) LA Lakers invade Continental Arena to take on the (20-27) New Jersey Nets. The Lakers currently sit 3-games in back of the Phoenix Suns for the lead in the Pacific Division, while the Nets sit a lofty 17.5-games in back of the Boston Celtics in the Atlantic Division. The Lakers have done a commendable job on the road this season posting 13-9 SU and 13-8-1 ATS marks. The Nets have only managed 10 wins in their 24 home games this season, and they’ve been terrible to their backers winning just 7 of those 24 games ATS.
Oddsmakers opened the Lakers up as 4.5-point road favorites with the ‘Total’ set at 203.5. Overnight bettors pounded the Lakers so much that they are now 7-point favorites, and they also expect a higher scoring game with the ‘Total’ currently sitting at 208.5. Both these lines can be bet on at BetUS.com right now!!!
Kobe and company were last in action on Super Bowl Sunday when they went into the nations capital and upended the Washington Wizards by a 103-91 final count ultimately covering the 4-point road chalk. The win was the Lakers second in a row after losing a tough one in Detroit, 90-89, to start their 9-game Eastern Conference road trip. Tonight’s game will see the season debut for the newly acquired Pau Gasol whom the Lakers traded for late last week. The acquisition of Gasol has Head Coach Phil Jackson extremely gitty about his clubs chances of winning another NBA Championship later this season. Only time will tell, but this LA franchise experienced tremendous success when big man Shaquille O’Neal and superstar Kobe Bryant combined to bring Hollywood home three consecutive championships.
This season has by no means been pretty for Head Coach Lawrence Frank and the New Jersey Nets. They come into tonight’s match-up losers in 8 of their L/10, and most recently dropped a 104-92 decision at the hands of the Atlanta Hawks as 7-point road pups. However, they did pick up a pair of road/home SU wins and covers before that loss when they knocked off Miami 94-85 as 3-point road chalks and Milwaukee 87-80 as 6-point home chalks. There’s no doubt the big three (Kidd, Jefferson, and Carter) will be up for this game, but will it be enough to get the best of the new look Lakers in this spot? Tune to the NBA Network at 7:35 ET and find out!!!
