NBA Wagering – Hornets Looking To Put Sting On Woeful Knicks
By Eric Williams
The New Orleans Hornets, (39-18 SU, 34-22-1 ATS, 27-29-1 O/U), looked like world beaters in beating the Utah Jazz 110-98 on Friday, but enter tonight’s contest against the mediocre New York Knicks, (18-41 SU, 29-29-1 ATS, 35-24 O/U), coming off a dismal 101-84 road loss to the Washington Wizards last night. Causing head coach Byron Scott to snap.
"That's the problem, they think they can't get beat by this team twice," Scott said about his team. "And that's why we got our butts kicked both times. That's to be just point-blank with your guys. I just don't know if these guys respected them, (Wizards) enough."
The Knicks meanwhile, have won just four of their last six coming into this matchup and have dropped two straight including a convincing 118-92 road loss to the Orlando Magic on Saturday.
The Hornets have been a bit inconsistent in their last ten games, winning four straight before losing three in a row and then winning consecutive games before last night’s debacle against the high-scoring but severely undermanned Wizards.
New Orleans has also struggled to cover the spread lately in the BetUS.com Sportsbook, going just 4-6 against the spread in their last ten games and failing to cover as 7.5-point favorites against Washington.
Surprisingly, the Knicks have managed to fare better against the spread in their last ten games than the Hornets, going 5-4-1 against the spread though they failed to cover as 11.5-point underdogs against the Magic.
Here is a look at tonight’s key trends, followed by my analysis and NBA Betting Free Picks:
The Hornets are 4-0 ATS in their last four games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record.
The Hornets are 5-0 ATS in their last five road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
The Knicks are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
The Knicks are 4-1 ATS in their last five vs. Western Conference.
The Over is 5-2 in Hornets last seven vs. a team with a losing S.U. record.
The Over is 5-0 in Knicks last five games vs. a team with a winning percentage above .600.
The Hornets are 5-0 ATS in the last five meetings.
The Under is 4-1 in the last five meetings in New York.
Analysis: The Hornets should be in a very foul mood after unsuspectingly getting routed by the Wizards last night. I say take the Hornets to rout the Knicks in a big way despite being on the road tonight.
