NBA Sunday Basketball Betting - San Antonio Spurs vs. LA Lakers

The Spurs travel to Los Angeles to take on the Lakers in what is surely to be BetUS’s Sunday live wagering game.  The Spurs were throttled last week by the Phoenix Suns and must win this game to keep pace with the New Orleans Hornets.  In fact if the Spurs do win this game they may take control of the top spot in the Western Conference Playoffs depending on how the Hornets do in their weekend game.  Against the BetUS spread the Spurs have been okay going 6 and 4 in their last 10 games.  On the road the Spurs are 15 and 24 against the BetUS spread.

The Lakers have been horrible against the BetUS spread lately.  They’ve gone a very chilly 3 and 7 in their last 10 games.  Andrew Bynum won’t play in this game but the realization that he may not be back for the playoffs - - “may” being the operative word - - could rest heavily on the minds’ of the L.A. Lakers during this game.  That should help the Spurs.  Here are more trends.

The Los Angeles Lakers are 18 and 19 against the spread at home this season.

The Under is 40 and 38 in the Los Angeles Lakers’ games so far this season.

The San Antonio Spurs are 2 and 4 against the spread in their last 6 overall games.

The Under is 21 and 18 in the San Antonio Spurs’ away games so far this season. 

What will the BetUS over/under be?  I’m guessing between 190 to 200 points.  That means that the each team has to score between 95 to 100 points.  Do I see that happening in this game?  Actually, yes.

The Spurs are not averse to running with opposing teams.  They prefer to play in a half-court set, but they can run when they have to.  Since this game will be in Los Angeles, and since it’s against the Lakers who don’t really play defense, I expect the Spurs to take the open shots that are given to them.  The Lakers should give the Spurs tons of open looks.

In that sense this game could go way over.  If the BetUS over/under does end up at between 190 to 200 points, or less then 190, then I will be wagering on the over.

As far as which team will win this game, I have to go with the San Antonio Spurs.  They will be around a 3 to 4 point BetUS underdog in this affair.  The BetUS money-line will be on the plus side for the Spurs and they will be fired up to prove to the world that the loss against the Suns was an aberration.

I like a BetUS over to the Spurs money-line parlay in this game should the BetUS NBA lines end up close to what I have predicted.
