NBA Odds - Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Utah Jazz

The Minnesota Timberwolves have 12 straight-up wins on the season. That’s right,12. I remember thinking a few years back that T’Wolves’ G.M. Kevin McHale was some sort of genius. The T’Wolves had the best record in the league. They were on their way to the NBA Championship. Then, they stumbled their foot against the L.A. Lakers and all of a sudden this team went south in a hurry. In the past 10 games this season the T’Wolves have gone 5 and 5 against the BetUS spread. Not bad for a 12 and 47 team. They also have a winning record on the road against the BetUS spread going 14 and 13 so far this season. Interesting.
The Utah Jazz are 39 and 22 straight-up on the season and 19 and 10 at home against the BetUS spread. In their past 10 games they’ve gone 5 and 5 against the BetUS spread. It’s hard to imagine the Jazz losing this game outright, but what about against the spread? Let’s take a look at more trends:
The Minnesota Timberwolves are 8 and 1 against the spread in their last 9 games following an against the spread loss.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are 4 and 0 against the spread in their last 4 games following a double-digit loss.
The Road Team is 7 and 3 against the spread in the last 10 meetings between these two teams.
The Underdog is 6 and 2 against the spread in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.
The Jazz are one of the best teams in the NBA. They are solid in every single position, but they have a big issue in this game. It’s not their fault. The BetUS line is just too high and from an NBA bettor’s stand-point, it’s impossible to give up 16 points to almost any team in the NBA.
Yes, that includes the Minnesota Timberwolves are the worst team, based on record, in the NBA. Nobody is as inept as the T’Wolves. But in their last win on the season they did beat the Jazz by 11 points at home.
The situation appears to be reversed here as the Jazz get the T’Wolves at home, but there is no way I can get past that 16 point spread. Of course the Jazz are a terrific team. Of course they are very, very good at home. But 16 points is 16 points. I have to take the T’Wolves and the points.
