NBA Sportsbook Basketball Betting Spurs vs. Jazz
by D.S Williamson
San Antonio Spurs (+ 3) vs. Utah Jazz (- 3)
Tip-off: 8:05 pm est
Doesn’t it feel like every game between two teams from the Western Conference is a key game? This one definitely is as the Utah Jazz are 2 ½ games behind the San Antonio Spurs for the second seed in the Western Conference. Utah would love to grab that second seed as they are a fantastic 26 and 12 against the BetUS spread at home. Overall the Jazz have gone 6 and 4 against the BetUS spread in their last 10 games.
The Spurs, in true Spurs’ fashion, have started to turn it on late in the NBA season. San Antonio has their eyes set on grabbing the number one seed in the Western Conference playoffs. They are only a ½ game behind the New Orleans Hornets. The Spurs have compiled a 7 and 3 record against the BetUS spread in their past ten games. They’ve done it against some good teams - - Houston, Dallas and Orlando are all playoff bound - - and they’ve done it in style. The Spurs’ 21 point win against the Houston Rockets last week was a thing of beauty. Here are more trends.
The San Antonio Spurs are 7 and 1 against the spread in their last 8 overall games.
The Favorite is 7 and 0 against the spread in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
The Home team is 11 and 1 against the spread in the last 12 meetings between these two teams.
The Over is 4 and 0 in the Jazz last 4 games at home.
The San Antonio Spurs are 1 and 4 against the spread in the last 4 meetings between these two teams in Utah.
Sometimes, as a BetUS gambler, you have to take a bold stand and just go with it. That’s what I’m going to do here.
The San Antonio Spurs have been on fire lately against some very good teams, but the Utah Jazz are excellent at home. Not only that but the Jazz play a style that is conducive to beating a team like San Antonio.
The Jazz have two terrific big men in Mehmet Okur and Carlos Boozer. Their point-guard, Deron Williams, might be one of the top three point-guards in the NBA. Nobody pumps their team up more then the fans in Salt Lake.
That means that the Spurs have their work cut out for them. Will they be up to the task? First, let’s take a look at the BetUS over/under.
Right now the over/under is 198 points. That equates to around 99 points from each of these teams. I’m not saying it won’t happen, but we could be in for a very long, half-court battle. If that happens, then there is no way this game goes over.
But why even think about it when there is an obvious wager staring right at us? Utah always plays the Spurs tough at home. Heck, Utah plays everybody tough at home. Although the Spurs are the hot team, I have to go with Utah in this one. The Jazz know that this is a key game for them. With Williams at the point and Boozer and Okur upfront, I think the Jazz win this by at least 6 points.
The BetUS line is Utah Jazz – 3 against the spread at home versus the San Antonio Spurs.
My money will be on the Jazz to cover that spread.
