Okay, now before Chris Paul can dish out another assist, let’s get started.
New Orleans Hornets at Dallas Mavericks
Speaking of Paul, he has removed all doubt that he is now the best point guard in the NBA with his powerful performances against the Dallas Mavericks and a clearly, slow-footed Jason Kidd.
Maybe it’s me, but I think the fleet-footed Devin Harris sure would look good back in his Mavericks jersey now – and would certainly have a better chance of staying in front of Paul than Kidd does.
The bottom line for me in this matchup remains the fact that the Mavericks still don’t have a single player on their roster that can guard Chris Paul. If this point spread goes over three points, take the Hornets to cover.
Approximate Line: Over 3 – Take the Hornets
Approximate Line: Under 3 – Take the Mavericks
Approximate Over/Under Line: 218 Total Points – Take the Under
Cleveland Cavaliers at Washington Wizards
After emphatically picking the Washington Wizards to win this series over the Cleveland Cavaliers, (and looking like a fool following Games 1 and 2) I am solidly back on the Wizards bandwagon, (until they go back to Cleveland) after Washington’s convincing 108-72 win at home in Game 3.
I think this pick is actually a lot simpler than most people may think as the Wizards are not likely to lose this game at home following their confidence-building victory. While I like the Wizards to win this contest, I certainly don’t think that the more defensive-minded Cavaliers are going to hand it to them on a silver platter. If this line goes over seven points, the Cavs are the correct pick. If it stay under seven, I say take the high-scoring Wizards, even if point guard Gilbert Arenas is forced to sit out because of the knee injury he suffered on Thursday evening. As far as the Over/Under is concerned, I’m thinking this score will be under 188 Total Points.
Approximate Line: Under 7 Take the Wizards
Approximate Line: Over 7 Take the Cavaliers
Approximate Over/Under Line: 188 Total Points – Take the Under
Detroit Pistons at Philadelphia 76ers
The Bottom line for this contest is that if the Pistons are favored to win by more than seven points, I say go with the Sixers who have matched up well against the Pistons all season long, beating Detroit handily in their final regular season meeting 101-94
I like the up-tempo Sixers to push the ball as much as possible while keeping this game close until the very last possession or two. If the line here looks a bit high, go with the feisty Sixers.
Approximate Line: Over 7: Take the Sixers and the points
Approximate Line: Under 7: Take the Pistons
Approximate O/U Line: 194 Total Points – Take the Under
